it's time to admit you screwed up and buff snipers

ALL through taken king. shotguns ruled 6s and snipers ruled (although not nearly as heavy handedly) 3s. the stats on http://guardian.gg/en show that very clearly. currently shotguns are outperforming snipers in every single playlist except elimination (trials oddly enough is also being dominated by shotguns) and it's not like shotguns are minorly outperforming snipers. shotguns are getting between 2-5 times as many kills as snipers BEFORE you account for shotty melee combo. BUFF SNIPERS AND CLOSE RANGE PRIMARIES. END THE 3 YEAR LONG SHOTGUN META

  • Snipers are perfectly fine. They can be countered now by something other than snipers. I'd give the Longbow archetype back the ability to shut down supers (and reverse the stupid effect that nerf had on PvE), but other than I wouldn't touch a thing.

  • Lol i wish u kids played year 1. Last word ttk .23 thorn .33 plus damage over time. Shot guns double there range. Final round snipers. Fire bolts arc bolts. Vex mytho class had a .63 ttk year 1 thats faster than last word now. Hell doctrine in its prime was like .8 The more you bitch the softer this game gets.

    • Less flinch on snipers OR a shorter zoom for the short range scopes will give them the needed boost Stop the nerfs and start buffing certain primaries, shotguns are nowhere near OP they are very annoying and it can be frustrating to get killed by them but that doesn't call for another range nerf

        • This is the only buff post with down votes, i think that speaks for itself. Personally snipers are in a good spot. If you can't develop the skills to snipe, then use something else. If you're sniping in game modes that aren't good for sniping... the problem isn't shotguns it's you. If you're sniping on Drifter, you're gonna get shotgunned. That's not a sniper map. So pick up a fusion, close your mouth, and soldier on. I am terrible at the crucible, and don't have your imaginary problem.

            Lol. You're so salty you lost your easy kills that you don't even see the reality. Shotguns are outperforming snipers for 2 reasons now: - snipers are now being used as they are meant to. Long range suppression. Plus they are now a righ(er) risk reward as they should be because they are more counterable. You can no longer sit in the hail of primary fire and get accurate headshots off. (Skilled snipers are having less of an issue with the changes) - there are more close/cramped areas in map design that will ALWAYS cater to shotguns. Summary: snipers are working more closely to design and there are less people running and gunning. There are more opportunities to kill with a shotgun than a sniper. This is the most balanced the 2 weapon types have been. Please stop crying because you can't get this easy sniper kills anymore and do what you people have been telling shotgunners all this time...go pick up a primary ffs.

                  People in this forum can be so naive, what people do simply not understand is by nerfing snipers, pulses hand cannons and auto rifles (changes have been made I acknowledge that but overall they aren't as good) shotguns (despite their WARRANTED changes, e.g. Shot package removal) have been inadvertently buffed. Doctrine used to destroy a warrior, now it falls short, hand cannons just plain and simple ghost a lot of the time, pulse rifles just don't quite cut it. Put this with how destiny and its map are designed and you should realise there are a problem with shotguns, it's very easy to get into close range, movement techniques (such as skating) make it very easy for you to cross ground. Furthermore abilities further enhance shotguns, juggernaut, warlock melees as example make shotguns even more powerful, so anyone that says there is no issue with shotguns are seriously mistaken.

                    • I have no problem with snipers or shotguns unless it a titan running shotguns with jug there is absolutely no way to counter that even with shot gun they get so close with there shield then they use twilight to close the gap. Not to mention these sobs were complaining about the shoulder charge nerf come on man.

                      • the game needs buff's However snipers are the last thing that need any kind of buff. The game needs a buff to all PRIMARIES. There is only one solution that will help players get rid of secondaries. Reduce TTK time for all primaries below 1 sec. Otherwise secondaries will always continue to dominate. Simple human logic...

                        • What they need to do is simply reduce the effective range of shotguns across the board so only the lowest impact tier of shotguns have decent range. Outside of a player running an agility based build, under NO circumstance should a single shotgun blast one shot a guardian beyond 10M. 10M & under & a high impact SG with good range should be a one hit kill outside of players with overshields. Then it'll come down to other factors.

                        • No, snipers are passive weapons not push weapons, they are not your go to primary and they should have the lowest use rate and require massive skill as they do

                          [i]Overused =/= OP[/i] The reason shotty's are used more in 6v6 is because they are [b]effective[/b]. That is something you, and Bungie, needs to understand. [i]Effective =/= OP[/i] Typically, if something is [b]overused[/b], it is because it is [b]effective[/b]. [i] Overused = Effective[/i] Do you understand? Wanting to change a weapon class to somehow be more effective is the most efficient way Bungie has demonstrated their ability to break their own game, and yet you seem to want them to do it more. Good job. Don't want to use a shotty? Pull out a side arm. The Trespasser wrecks in PvP right now. Don't like that option? How about a nice Fusion Rifle? Wizard 77 drops with some decent rolls, to say the least. That not what you enjoy either? Then learn to use the sniper effectively instead of demanding Bungie essentially aim the gun for you.

                          • You must not be a year one player. Shotguns got nerfed so hard at end of year one so snipers was dominated year 2. So not really a good idea to shotguns nerfed again unless you want another sniper nerf.

                              No buff to snipers yes buff to close range primaries. Buff to close range abilities. Or rework shotgun archetypes.

                            • Snipers should remain where they are. Certain primaries need to be buffed in order to counter shotgun play. The unflinching perk for snipers should be buffed.                               • snipers and shotguns are fine as they are imo - sidearms and fusions could do with a slight buff maybe but the real issue is still the amount of available special ammo imo. personally i'd like to see everyone start off with NO special ammo. then there would be fights for the crates with people actually using their primaries but i know fighting with your primary weapon is a strange concept to some people
