Every subclass should be like shadebinder

As a warlock main I have always used warlock in PvE because it has been the best for years because of well of radiance granting you virtual immunity in normally dangerous situations, making things like boss DPS a joke when it would normally be somewhat dangerous. However I have always wished that there was something other than well; a utility other than healing that was not done better by another subclass. Then shadebinder with bleak watcher came around, and suddenly warlocks had the hands down best subclass for crowd control since vanilla orpheus rigs. Bleak watcher with iceflare bolts and the right set of fragments feels so strong in PvE that it is a borderline crutch; I did a master vog yesterday on a titan for the first time, and I found myself getting overwhelmed by adds way more frequently because I was used to having a turret that let me singlehandedly take care of every add at a conflux or on the gatekeeper planets by myself with ease. You throw down a turret, wait for maybe 10 seconds, one gets frozen and then they all get frozen, shoot one demolitionist GL shot and they all die and you are already half way to another turret. It is insane. The super, also, insane. But I do not think this is grounds for a nerf. I think the opposite; this is a perfect subclass, possibly the first ever perfect subclass in destiny 2. It has a very clearly defined role to play with the right combination of fragments, weapons, and exotics and it EXCELS at it. This is how all subclasses should be, no question about it. A subclass like this makes you feel powerful and feel like your role on a team is defined in a way that nothing else in the game can. In a game with classes and subclasses this is how it always should have been. Do not ever nerf shadebinder. Buff the abilities of other subclasses and incorporate the aspect/fragment system into light subclasses. If every subclass felt the way shadebinder does, PvE would be so much more enjoyable.

  • I've always found it funny that the general consensus is that Well of Radiance builds are Overpowered in end game (PvE in general) and it makes the game too easy and essentially boring. But every time we find another build to use other than Well, it's also "too easy" and makes the game a joke. Like people, can't we just have fun? I'd love to use Stormcaller in GMs but you'll literally die in half a second if you try to use your super. Nova Warp is still -blam!- in GMs even with the "buff to damage vs champions" ya, sure... Heck, even Nova Bomb is pitiful. Then Shadebinder comes along and when you build into it, you can survive, tank and deal with mobs like no other. It's fun. I'm all for build diversity but I'm also sick of the final outcome is basically defaulting back to Well or something because any other build we find makes the game "too easy" for certain people.
