I've always found it funny that the general consensus is that Well of Radiance builds are Overpowered in end game (PvE in general) and it makes the game too easy and essentially boring. But every time we find another build to use other than Well, it's also "too easy" and makes the game a joke. Like people, can't we just have fun? I'd love to use Stormcaller in GMs but you'll literally die in half a second if you try to use your super. Nova Warp is still -blam!- in GMs even with the "buff to damage vs champions" ya, sure... Heck, even Nova Bomb is pitiful. Then Shadebinder comes along and when you build into it, you can survive, tank and deal with mobs like no other. It's fun. I'm all for build diversity but I'm also sick of the final outcome is basically defaulting back to Well or something because any other build we find makes the game "too easy" for certain people.

  • I have a build that lets me just spam Duskfield grenades constantly. It’s one about every 4 seconds or so. It’s probably the most fun I’ve had in PvE in a while.

For well, you dont really have a skillgap. You are the guy who drops the well at the start of every damage phase so that the team can survive. Done. I guess theres some awareness needed to be able to use your healing grenades effectively. Theres no weapons you can use or have to use to make the subclass good, theres no single exotic that makes it significantly better (lunafactions are obviously good but they arent a game changer), theres no specific stats to spec into or anything. Its just good for no effort. Shadebinder on the other hand, first of all you have to have all the aspects and fragments unlocked which takes some time. Once you have them, its up to you to decide which combination of fragments and aspects suits your playstyle best. Theres a rock solid use case for pretty much every option on the stasis subclasses. Furthermore, there are weapons that make it way better such as a headstone hand cannon or a demolitionist grenade launcher. There are exotics that pair perfectly with it like verity's brow and eye of another world. Overall it feels way more immersive; you put in more work and you have a subclass and a loadout that makes you really feel powerful. Well, for me, doesnt make me feel powerful. I dont think well needs a nerf. Im just saying it is simply not fun the way shadebinder is. I want to be able to put in work and get a loadout that works and makes me feel truly strong, which an invincibility pool doesnt really do for me. Being able to control adds so effectively that I can two man confluxes and gatekeeper makes me feel impactful and makes my investment into my build feel rewarding.

  • Stormcaller is fine in GMs, chaos reach is great. Say tank room in proving grounds, 2 chaos reach warlocks easily clear the room of yellow bars and many red bars.

    This. I just ru-blam!-’s if I’m using non-chaos reach. The damage from Stormcaller compared to how close you need to get just isn’t worth it compared to Ager’s. Edit: I literally just said run(ning) Ager’s Really disliking this new auto-censor changes Bungie.
