Screaming Into The Void

How many second chances has this community given Bungie? I’m genuinely curious if anyone knows. Just a small recap of current events: 1. Marathon is a dumpster fire and an exercise in Sunk Cost Fallacy. People have long since feared that the development of it would impact Destiny… and it has (development resources; time and people being diverted to Marathon… ESPECIALLY after being caught with your pants down over the stolen art assets). Not only have developers been pooled from Destiny to Marathon, but a mid-expansion update has now gone off-track thanks to Marathon. It is actively hurting the experience of the people who play Destiny 2. 1a. Advertising Marathon inside of Destiny 2 was a really classy move… “This game is dying because of the one we’re working on! Go play that one instead and pay us for it while you’re at it!” 1b. The amount of delays we’ve experienced since Season of the Lost/Witch probably amount to an entire expansion cycle at this point (when expansion cycles were still a year instead of roughly 6 months or however long you felt like) got down the drain. 1c. The announcement for the delay is ON A SEPARATE WEBSITE. Not even anywhere on Bungie. You have to go to X/Twitter or pray a brainlet content creator covers it properly. PEOPLE HAVE WANTED A WAY TO KEEP UPDATED ON YOUR OWN SITE WITHOUT THE NEED OF THIRD-PARTY SITES FOR YEARS. 1d. The delayed update is apparently going to introduce “quality of life” updates but there is no criteria of description given for these. Quality of Life could mean the bare minimum at this point like fixes to ongoing bugs that were never taken care of. 1e. Things the game desperately needs like all activities outside the Portal regaining relevance are nowhere to be seen. Or at least bring the activities to the Portal and find a better way to matchmake than limiting us to the 3 Dailies. Why must the community continue to suffer for the mistakes the “right people” (from the famous words of Pete Carsons) keep making? Clearly it’s not working out if we’re at ~6,000 players on Steam in the last 24 hours AFTER a weekly reset (all I can say is I literally solo queued into an Arena Ops that was matchmade when I decide to play for the first time in months, if isn’t dead then please tell me what dead actually is). Why do we continue to drift into the abyss without no communication?
