While I have read that unlinking an account is impossible, my issue is more unique than most I'd reckon.
My brother and I formerly played on the same Xbox. From there, this Bungie account was linked to our Xbox account and, later, my Steam account (given that I wanted to test playing D2 on my laptop, but I never got around to it).
A few years later, I get my own PC, and lend my Xbox fully to my brother. However, upon attempting to unlink the (now his) Bungie account from my Steam account, I'm met with the impossibility of this since March 2025, which I was not once personally informed of.
Given that I'd like to play Marathon with my brother, I'd appreciate finding any single way to separate my Steam account from my Bungie account so we can do the one thing we've been looking forward to for the past few months, or alternatively, find some other solution that's not inconvenient.
If it's relevant, cross-save was never activated on this account.

You may want to try the Marathon Discord here to see if they can shed any light on whether multiple accounts linked to the same Bungie profile can be signed into the game at the same time (and in the same lobby) as long as cross-save is not enabled. If they can't or won't be able to tell you, then your options are basically: - wait for the game or its open beta to launch and test it out, or - one of you has to switch to a new platform account (and Bungie account) for Marathon.
