Backing up characters
I would like to delete my old character in order to start playing again after a long time away from the game. But I don't want to lose my old character, because he is dear to me as a memory. Can I somehow backup it or transfer it to another platform to create a new one, but not lose the old one? Or at least be able to restore an old character after that?

the characters reside on bungie's servers. they cannot be transferred between platform or accounts nor can they be reset/have progress erased. you would have to start a completely new character to accomplish what you are looking to, i am afraid.
