If the glaive melee is not going to get any benefits from melee-buffing perks, it should AT LEAST be considered an elemental attack when it comes to breaking shields or triggering elemental related effects like elemental armaments or path of burning steps, even if the damage buffs only apply to the ranged attack.
As it stands, performing a glaive melee is worse than a regular uncharged melee, which is really kinda silly.

I can Agree.

Edited by ReticentHope417: 4/9/2022 9:20:49 AMUpdate on some testing I did between glaives and melees Recursive “rpm” of melees: 60 Recursive “rpm” of glaives: 112.5 Glaive to melee (damage) ratio against red bars: 3:1 Glaive to melee ratio (damage) against not red: 1.66:1 Even if against stronger enemies, the effective dps of a glaive is over 3 times the damage of normal melees. Keep in mind this relates to pve only.

1 ReplyEdited by Killhound85: 4/7/2022 4:58:35 PMGlaives do play a unique role. Though they will probably need help finding there place going forward. The weapon is definitely for a defensive play style. Their shield ability is excellent for blocking damage while stunning unstoppable Champs and shrikers. While the melee atk, is great close quarters work on ads. The titan's edge of action bubble shield does add another layer of survivability, but it's seem more difficult to use that other alt fire weapon types. The seasonal mods definitely do help the weapon type and losing them will hurt using them in a build. Unfortunately it may just be one of the many weapons that end up being relatively "unusable" because of seasonal champ mods.

I'm certain Bungie will grant you that wish with another useless MOD that you can / have to put on to be able to function!

22 RepliesIf Glaive melee need anything it’s the need to consume ammo. Free melee hits with a weapon that’s empty with no penalty is just bad.

1 ReplyEdited by PlNK With An L: 4/7/2022 9:36:06 AMGlaive "melees" being in their own little category of "not quite a melee, not quite weapon damage" is the death rattle of the weapon type. Suppressing Glaive just masked the stench until it got nerfed. The shield is the only thing giving it usage because the projectile sure isn't going to be winning any awards for damage output, ease of use, or good ammo economy. They work with no existing mods (Just add glaive to the Arc Charged with Light mods.).The exotic glaives are filler at best. Joke exotic weapons in a game that literally has Jade Rabbit, a green rarity scout with a nice statline. PVP glaives are basically a meme with a couple of dirty tricks and PVE glaives will remain a shield stick at absolute best unless this is changed. Let us have dunemarchers chains and necrotic grips DOTs from glaives. Let us have wormgod/winter's guile stacking melee damage. Let us have synthoceps and ophidian aspect boosting the lunge range. Let us have doomfa- Ok, maybe not doomfangs.

If swords can be elemental, why not glaives?
-
Was honestly surprised that they were not.
-
wait ....... its not ? granted I dont use them much unless I really need them, but I could swear it blows up shields when I was playing around with one
-
Glaive melee needs to have a effect from swashbuckler and trigger melee effects.
-
Glaves need to be removed.
-
2 RepliesGlavays are a skillless weapon. You MASH the bumper button, stuff dies fast, and no ammo is used. People keep asking for do it all weapons ...
-
They should be like swords but with the melee perks. Why isn’t this how they work?
-
Should be a charged elemental melee just like our normal melee
-
2 RepliesGlaive melees also deal more damage per hit than a normal melee (pve) as well as being faster, which mainly why I think they currently don’t have any direct synergies.
-
1 ReplyI do agree that either it should either 1, be elemental and benefit from things that effect element like the flow mod. or 2. be kinetic and benefit from being able to generate orbs with kinetic kills. or. 3. benefit from anything which effects melee. Right... now... right this moment. Glaives are really good, because of the seasonal mods. Aside from the seasonal mods, Bungie lauched glaives extremely conservatively and much more focus has been put on making it a shooty umbrella than an actual melee centered weapon. I think that is going to make them irrelevant once the seasonal mods go away. Time will tell. As it stands they are good for stasis builds because kinetic can do extra damage to frozen targets. Which would be great... If they had a stasis glaive that fired a shotgun blast of stasis shards that freeze targets and then it's stabby time. But they don't.

The melee just needs to work with perks...also kinetic orb maker needs to work on it. If the melee was elemental it would break the game.
-
They shouldnt, they should just interact with melee abilities and be treated like one. Especially since they take 3 hits in crucible to kill anything
-
1 ReplyIn pvp yes, it is weaker than normal melee. In pve, it's something like 20% stronger per hit. Also I just found out today that 2 of the void fragments do synergize with glave melee. 3 -4 if you play around with the artifact mod suppressing glave. I forget the fragments names but one let's glave kills generate grenade energy and the other triggers health regen for you an your allys.

1 ReplyMy Enigma should work with Abyssal Extractors Let me run my Devour build Bungie ffs!!
-
Yeah idk. Normal melee doesn't do element damage unless charged. I think glaives are pretty strong. Frontal cone melee damage. With no ammo required.
-
4 RepliesThe delay between projectile click to melee click shouldnt be a so heavy feeling that's my only deal with glaives
-
Elemental melee and for some of the damage perks to be adjusted to affect melee and not be op. Swashbuckler should affect melee for sure. Adjust rampage/frenzy damage on a per weapon type basis similar to Vorpal. That or adjusted based on which method of glaive attacking you're using (full damage with shots, reduced damage with melee).

Delete glaives Bungee. They’re beyond stupid.
