@Nephilim, I don’t need the meta to win but it helps significantly and is irritating to die to, meanwhile Bungo fixed teamshottung hell. Unfortunately the solution to that problem was overbuffing two exotic pulse rifles so they have an optimal/usable ttk for 1v1s but in doing so have nullified the use of any other weapons. (As of Warmind DLC) If I were a game developer I would want to eliminate any forming metas so that all weapons are balanced (or as a balanced as possible). Now exotics are supposed to be powerful, and should rightfully be slightly better than legendary counterparts. That being said however, 2-5 weapons should not dictate 50% of all matches played (vigilance wing, graviton lance, antiope-d, colony, etc.). I understand the difficulties of game development, and believe in Bungie, but they should seriously consider putting someone on exclusively gun balancing if they ever want D2 to be a truly competitive game. If over 50% of matches (check the stats on Destiny Tracker) include the same 2-5 guns, the game isn’t competitive, at least in my opinion. On a separate but somewhat related note with regard to balancing/ metas/ etc. I wish Bungie took into account the OPTIMAL ttk as opposed to landing all headshots with a 900 rpm smg. That won’t ever happen, and I used smg as an example, but with something like Crimson hitting ALL headshots barely puts you on par with the body shot time of some energy weapons. Not cool. Warmind has been good. I hope someone at Bungie takes the time to read this. One of my less ranty posts.

Nah... We've seen worse. It's the 4v4 for all game modes that bug me.

Metas not horrible, find it kind of odd how limited it is though given the amount they have simplified this game.

The meta is a problem but team shooting is the main problem

When you say "for D2" I have to assume you mean in comparison to D1, correct? If yes, then HELL NO! One shot sticky grenades when players spawned with 2 regardless of class or cooldown. One shot, uber range shotguns having more kills than any other weapons. Infinite supers and Titan bubbles. Thorn and the luck based last word! I could probably go on but this game actually has gunplay and I personably like that.

The meta is great, but you have so few choices, at least in PvP. My Titan uses MIDA/Uriel, the two most meta guns in the game. And my warlock runs Vigilance/Last Hope, also commonly used. In D1, because of statrolls, none of my three preferred guns was meta. Indeed, I saw almost no 77 Wizards used in PvP. There were choices. D2 offers far fewer.

I dont think the meta is trash. Scouts with autos and Last Hope arent as bad as if the meta was just autos or something. I do think its BS that Bungie added static rolls and said they did it so they could balance things faster Literally no difference in balancing between D1 and D2. Theres still a meta with OP weapons that everyone uses. Only thing static rolls have done is make grinding non existent in D2. Its no fun getting new weapons and testing them in crucible

It's not so much that the meta sucks as it is that AR's essentially compete across almost all spaces, and HCR / XR have added flinch in PvP. Fix those 2 things, and bring hand cannons and pulses up the smallest amount, and things will level out. Whoever decided that an AR should have the best and easiest TTK across 75% or more of the combat ranges needs to be relegated to texture mapping, or something similar.
