The increase to ADS accuracy in 2.1 was appreciated, and I can tell a difference. But stuff like this still happens. In this clip I was using Hawkmoon with accurized ballistics and hammer forged, which brings the range up to a pretty high level for hand cannons. And yet, standing completely still, with my reticle directly over the head of a Dreg who is also standing completely still at medium range, the shot simply misses. Why? Just because.
I'm sorry but that's still not good enough. I'm not saying we need to go back to the days when you could practically snipe with even a low range hand cannon, but come on. Hand cannons are supposed to be accurate weapons. In fact I'd say their accuracy is even more important than that of a scout rifle (just not at the same range obviously). Missing a shot with a hand cannon means a relatively long wait for the next shot compared to a scout, so I should miss because my aim was bad, not because the game just decided I would.
P.S. please don't use this thread to complain about the Hawkmoon range nerf and say "Hawkmoon is dead." This is a problem with all hand cannons, not just one exotic. The only HC I've found to shoot reliably at this point is The First Curse.

I'll have to test again with my water star but I think it's slightly overplayed the whole 'range is the major stat' thing. I know range is supposed to equal more aim assist, but I find i do better with my eyasluna with braced frame.

5 RepliesEdited by Killlerschaf: 12/15/2015 7:48:17 AMYour issue is Hawkmoon. Try that with the First Curse or a Nicely rolled Handcannon from HoW (with a lot of range) and you will get much more consistent results. Every Handcannon with a similar range to the pre nerf Hawkmoon will perform pretty well. They sadly nerfed Hawkmoon into the ground...

2 RepliesIn PVP I had someone with an imprecation be able to land shots at a distance my hung jury was only just pulling off ... The whole this is inconsistent
-
1 ReplyThe problem isn't hand cannons. They've stated before that accuracy will fall off when fired at long ranges. Hawkmoon now no longer has a long range therfore will not consistently hit its target when where you're shooting it from.

Work fine to me.

You got to be trolling

8 RepliesI do not understand how this thread still has traction. I have proven that there is nothing wrong with hand cannon accuracy, up close, or at range. I even snap-headshotted a dreg at four-to-five times the distance that you apparently missed, whilst aiming down the sights, and STILL guardians agree with what you are saying! To be fair, out of those that have responded, only AFLIBERATOR can actually 'shoot straight', and therefore, should know better. But, everyone else has such poor accuracy, that their opinion surely cannot count. When I say 'shoot straight', I am not not just being glib, it is a term which I use, that is backed up with statistics from the grimoire. To have the ability to 'shoot straight', you must have a precision kills ratio of 50% or above in the weapon that you are discussing. For someone who is competent with a particular weapon type, especially hand cannons, this should not be too hard a feat, as only half of everything that you kill, has to be through the head. You have to question the judgement of a guardian who finds his own ratio below this 50% threshold. Guardians in the mid-forties, may have some sort of opinion as to what is going on, but anyone below the forties, should concentrate on headshots, before they have an opinion on accuracy.

I have a few clips of the same issue. I was hoping that the last patch would fix them a bit but i really didn't see that much of a difference. They are still trash in my opinion , but not as bad as before. Why would i choose a HC over a scout or pulse?

Edited by The 7th fall: 12/14/2015 5:44:23 PMYeah I did the same thing you did with a mock hawkmoon, eyeasluna, on my buddie's account at his place and tried it on a Captain that was standing still... I missed 3 shots before the 4th finally hit and I was like 10-15 feet away while aiming at his chest (on purpose). I saw the bullets just whizz left and right barely missing when I was clearly aiming for his chest!!!

I agree!

Personally, I haven't had a problem since the update.
-
i havent really used handcannons i agree no weapon should randomly miss, if your on target, so should hte bullet. this goes for all weapons, and why i disagree random recoil, it should be consistant per the weapon.
-
Bump. If you are within the effective range for that individual hc, it shouldn't magically miss... EVER. If you go outside the intended range, then sure I can see a shot or two missing here or there.

5 RepliesI use to use nothing but hand cannons but couldn't keep up with the fire rate of auto and pulse rifles. Had to switch to scout to boost rate of fire. Sad, because I don't really believe they are looking for balance in the weapons anymore just trying to keep us all guessing which one they'll make king this go-round.

I'm complaining about my eyasluna going from 11 rounds to ten what bs!!!
-
I agree 100%. Saw a video today of a hand cannon whiffing shots at close range. I won't be using them again until they fix it. A step in the right direction, but still not consistent enough.
-
Pretty much agree with you, hand cannon should still have solid accuracy up to medium range.

4 RepliesEdited by magburner: 12/12/2015 10:08:25 PMYou cannot shoot straight. Same gun, same sight, same everything.
