I do not understand how this thread still has traction. I have proven that there is nothing wrong with hand cannon accuracy, up close, or at range. I even snap-headshotted a dreg at four-to-five times the distance that you apparently missed, whilst aiming down the sights, and STILL guardians agree with what you are saying!
To be fair, out of those that have responded, only AFLIBERATOR can actually 'shoot straight', and therefore, should know better. But, everyone else has such poor accuracy, that their opinion surely cannot count.
When I say 'shoot straight', I am not not just being glib, it is a term which I use, that is backed up with statistics from the grimoire. To have the ability to 'shoot straight', you must have a precision kills ratio of 50% or above in the weapon that you are discussing.
For someone who is competent with a particular weapon type, especially hand cannons, this should not be too hard a feat, as only half of everything that you kill, has to be through the head.
You have to question the judgement of a guardian who finds his own ratio below this 50% threshold. Guardians in the mid-forties, may have some sort of opinion as to what is going on, but anyone below the forties, should concentrate on headshots, before they have an opinion on accuracy.

Edited by Killlerschaf: 12/15/2015 7:51:25 AMThose 50% are unachievable if you used Thorn well. 2 tap poison doesn't count as a Headshot :P However, it's indisputable that Hawkmoon got hit too hard by the range nerf. Anyhow, there seems to be a range threshold HC have to overcome, to be accurate. Hawkmoon misses that one, other HCs perform pretty well.

Then do not use Thorn. Hawkmoon has had a modification to its range, but I would not necessarily call it a nerf. If you are struggling to hit targets at a certain range, then the simple solution is to reduce the range.

Edited by Killlerschaf: 12/15/2015 4:59:00 PMI don't know since when you have been around, but there was a time in which everyone used Thorn. It was also tongue in cheek, because your stats are hilariously bad, for someone who demands a 50% Headshot ratio. I have better stats than you, so there's that. And the idea that a certain Headshot percentage threshold is important, is amusing. Thanks for your tip with the Hawkmoon. But if I want nonsensical and esoteric tips, I'll go to church. In a world in which I can simply play Thorn or TLW, I sure as hell won't try to play an intentionally broken weapon (Hawkmoon) that Bungie nerfed into the ground. A 20 base damage reduction is a nerf in pretty much every multiverse I have visited until now. I don't know how a reduction of one of the most important stats for a handcannon cannot be called a nerf.

I have used HC since the release of destiny and i can tell you right now there is still something really wrong with the accuracy. I have videos of the first curse with its perk active missing shots from 5-15 feet away. The first curse is the HC with the most aim assist and range after the update when the perk is active and it still misses shots that are suppose to hit.

I knew something was weird about that gun. It's weird how hard it is to land shots with it sometimes. I have a much easier time with my Imago Loop, which makes zero sense stat-wise.

Sorry, magburner. Perhaps you could upload a video of you shooting 10,000 HC shots (in a row, on the same mob type) so we can verify your 'proof'. Until that happens you could try removing your head from your ass. Trying to claim someone needs a precision kills ratio of over 50% is honestly just bullshit, the same as people who talk about their K/D ratio. I honestly don't give a -blam!- what's happening in regular missions, in fact the only time I really try for headshots is in the raids or NF. Everywhere else is honestly doesn't matter unless I'm using Hung Jury or similar. Same goes for Crucible, I go in to blow off steam, not be a pro shit. Only in Trials or IB do I really care a bit. But not much. That being said it's a very rare day anyone I do anything with has more precision kills than me. I used to love Thorn, it was amazing, if I could get one now without the poison effect I would still take it over anything else. In Y2 I've experienced the same problem. Point blank range practically, no reason, shots just miss. It's possible it's lag, I'm in Australia and despite a green bar the game is often just shit, especially in any form of PvP, but I'm talking PvE here. Add in slightly longer range to targets and it becomes a joke... Plus before Y2 you wanted headshots with your HC as it was just highly effecient, now with the small clips and generally slow reloads if you aren't getting 100% head shots they are just a rubbish weapon, not taking into account totally random bullets deciding to fly off. I've found a few I liked but with a 5 or 6 bullet clip... I mean WTF.

IIRC, Australia has one of the worst average latency values to the rest of the world.

Edited by Enyo-03: 12/14/2015 7:19:20 AMHmm. 51% accuracy across the board with all HC'S and 60% accuracy with Hawkmoon in particular. So per your standards then, my opinion counts as well? Hawkmoon is not hitting consistently at the ranges it should be hitting. And yes, I'm accounting for the range nerf. Not with snap shotting or with swipe shooting. Nor are other HC'S for the matter. To be honest, they felt better, more consistent, pre-2.0.1 or whatever the last patch was that supposedly increased their accuracy. The only thing I personally can think of, is that Hawkmoon's accuracy at range is not taking hammer forged into account if you're running it. It seems that the weapon is fairly accurate within the range it would be used without hammer forged, but adding hammer forged should not only extend it's range, but it's accuracy at that range and it isn't. I can say this. Because before this last "buff" I jumped between quickdraw and hammer forged depending on the map, and the current range now with Hammer Forged equipped is what it was before without hammer forged equiped. So I'm quite familiar with the current intended range. It's not working properly.
