Wait wait wait... Hear me out for a second, but first, tinfoil hats on. What if one of Bungie's KPI is to show their shareholders every month or quarter like "Hey look! We've got so many Crucible matches going on!" And they intentionally have unbalanced teams so that one would stomp the other and then it would end quickly, but still count as 1 round played. Then it eventually adds up to pad their KPI?

  • Why would shareholder give a crap about crucible match counts ? They care about Eververse

Maybe it's just one of the components that Bungie uses to pad their reporting and tell their shareholders / investors "Hey look, so many people are playing in so many different game types, please pump more money! This isn't a dead game!" I don't know honestly, I think this might be a possibility?

  • Except Bungie isn't publicly traded, so no shareholders.
