I just don't think the old consoles can physically handle it anymore. The 512mb of ram as opposed to the 5+Gb of ram. I'm not surprised if destiny on last gen has just reached its cap on what it can handle at this point

Well except bungie has said they want to be at least somewhat equal no matter which you're playing on (minus ps exclusives, as they can't help that due to contract). Can you imagine if a major feature gets taken out just so it can even fit in last gen? Let's speculate one of the crucible features being added (which they've said feature, along with maps, and game modes) is map voting. Great. Tons of people want map voting in crucible (and pve, but still). Previously they've already had to water down last gen destiny, I know it's a minor one, but exotic armor doesn't move on last gen, idk what else has been added to that since then. So imagine map voting gets implemented, but to even allow last gen to handle rise of iron, what if they have to cut map voting from last gen? It makes sense on a technical lvl how that could be what's going on, granted we don't know yet. You imagine the sh!t storm that would cause, all the last gen complaining they don't have map voting, because the console simply can't handle it anymore. At that point, you wouldn't see a bunch of last gen rise of iron orders anyway, the map Voting in itself would be an incentive to upgrade

I see what you're saying and I agree, but it's not so much about how many ROI they would or wouldn't sell, it's about losing customer loyalty. Maybe if Bungie would support D1 on last gen to until D2 drops, those who hadn't upgraded would be encouraged to do so. It just doesn't set well with a large part of the fanbase that's still on last gen. I feel there's a lot more people playing world wide on last gen than you would think.

Yes and no. There's more people on last gen playing destiny than you'd think, but also less than you'd hope. They will still be supporting D1 for quite awhile on last gen, just not adding more dlcs, and I think it's because the old consoles just can't really handle it anymore. We also have to consider, what if Bungie doesn't even have much say in this? It could old consoles won't let them anymore, there's also the possibility Activision, who Bungie has to listen to, is telling them current gen only 1 thing everyone seem to be overlooking, on both Twitter and and The Weekly Update, is they hinted at creating an an incentive to make it easier for people to upgrade, which sounds like price cuts. But more details are to follow about that

I have no doubt that Destiny will be better off for focusing on next gen, I just think it's going to hurt alot of the world wide fanbase. From what I've read in some posts, next generation consoles are a little more expensive and harder to come by in other countries.

Don't get me wrong, it sucks for last gen users, I wish they could play it, and it's happening quicker than some people thought and slower than some thought, but I just think overall it's for the best. In terms of a new console. Yes not everyone has the money, I get it, but if you REALLY wanted one, it isn't out of reach. Anyone who knows video game consoles, knows about generations of consoles. Not only are we about 3 years into this generation, which in itself is a warning to upgrade, the 360 and PS3 were part of the longest lived console generation so far, a couple years longer than most other console generations, so it's probably closer to a 5 year warning now that they're about out the door. If you saved $1 a day, ever since X1 and PS4, up until now. You will have saved approx enough to buy both an X1 and PS4 at their original price. They've both dropped around $100 or so since then, there is deals quite often, I finally upgraded mine during the aftermath of Black Friday last year I believe. You can do odds and ends for a little extra cash, chores, helping neighbors with stuff for $10 or something like that. Personally, In school I was given $20 for lunch to last the week, which didn't exactly get you a ton of food, considering it was school lunches, for $2-3 you'd get 5 chicken nuggets and a carton of milk, with 1 side, which was often coleslaw. I got to keep any extra money left over from lunch. I started to get smarter with my approach to buying lunch, next thing I knew, I was pocketing $10 a week, and even $15 the next year
