Talking about something dying doesn't revive it? And just because other companies are arseholes too doesnt take away from the fact that destiny is up there amongst the worst.

  • First of all, you can't revive something if isn't dead. And I'm not saying Destiny should get a free pass, but when you say stuff like "Imagine if other developers copied their business practices and treat their customers with such contempt after copying bungievisions way's." you act like Bungie is the only "offender", even though EVERY OTHER game developer does this.

  • That was my point, and destiny is up there near the top of the worst offender's.

  • What exactly is your point then? I don't believe I mentioned your point, apart from quoting your entire post, so in a way I suppose I did, yet I'm unsure of what your point is exactly.

  • But, to say Destiny is "dead" implies nobody is playing. When in all fairness, I'm actually seeing people on my friend list start to creep back into it, from CoD BO3, or Fallout 4 or whatever else. Destiny has a hell of a lot more staying power than the other games do.

  • I never said 'dead' i said dying.

  • You dont have a clue what i meant. I wrote what i meant and it's clear i said dying, not dead.

  • You need to formulate your opinions better then. You can't claim something is dying, unless massive numbers of the player-base are dwindling from the game, sometimes people take a break off of Destiny, I've done it a millions times, but the game is very captivating to some, and as Ianferno put it, it has much better staying power than some of the other games coming out. A game you could say was dying, would've been Titanfall, it is hardly devoid from players now, but considering it had such a successful launch which basically saved the Xbox one sales, its playerbase has definitely diminished quite a bit, and honestly I could see the same thing happen to Battlefront, because of the lack of content.

  • Dying doesn't mean dead. It's diminished and injured, i think terminally but i may be wrong it could make a recovery.

  • And I'm saying it's not diminished, injured or "terminally ill", because the community is thriving, and the game is updated regularly. Your definition of a dying game is a game that is not completely polished? "Dying" is a strong critique of a game, and I believe you're abusing it.

  • "Thriving" implies vigorous growth, which would be a misrepresentation of facts.

  • I did not know that, I most definitely wouldn't say the community is growing at a rapid pace, though I believe it is growing. By "thriving" I meant that the community is still very much alive, since it is easy to find people for raids, Iron banner, Trials or anything really. You can always find people to do strikes with, and the crucible matches always finds full teams, and at a decent speed as well, the fact that the matchmaking is a little slow, properly stems more from technical errors, than a lack of players. If anyone is misrepresenting facts, it's people like Lethalviper, claiming a game with a steady player-base and which is regularly updated to be dying, makes absolutely zero sense.
If anyone is misrepresenting facts, it's people like Lethalviper, claiming a game with a steady player-base and which is regularly updated to be dying, makes absolutely zero sense.
I would say that just because there's a steady player-base and the game is updated regularly doesn't mean that the player-base isn't shrinking, and it can't be perceived as "dying". Check out some of the PSN trophy percentages sometime! 21.7% have equipped an exotic weapon. 36.3% have equipped a piece of exotic gear. 24.8% have fully upgraded a legendary weapon. 26.9% have reached rank 1 in Crucible. 34.4% have reached rank 1 in Vanguard. 19.4% have fully upgraded a Hunter subclass. 19.3% have fully upgraded a Warlock subclass. 18% have fully upgraded a Titan subclass. 23.3% have completed a raid. 16.2% have completed a heroic raid. 2.6% have completed King's Fall heroic, nearing the end of Q1 of year 2. That's PS3 as well as PS4. I'm sure they'd like to retain more players into an active player base across 10 years.

  • As long as ALL of the millions of players who bought the game aren't playing, then the game is dying? Because that is all your "trophy" statistics prove (which I would like a source of as well). I've said it before, and I will say it again, you and Viper are highly abusing the word "dying", it's like if you went up to a 20 year old and told them they were dying, then yeah, I guess you'd be right, technically, but you wouldn't say that to a healthy young person with 60 years more to live. On the other hand, if a guy was terminally ill with... Cancer, or something, then yeah you could say he was dying. But the fact is that Destiny isn't terminally ill, even though people like you and Viper have been accusing it of since before House of Wolves. https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/2v0qmi/is_destiny_dying/ here's you from 9 months ago, or someone quite like you. http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/704532-destiny/71193496 yet another one who believes destiny to be dying... that was 10 months ago. On the other hand, here are some people playing you're dying game: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCp8AdmyTprnbQ_NvjO03o3Q?ab_channel=Ms5oooWatts https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCV96ER3MAI1S81HH6l9wwbQ?&ab_channel=Mr.FruitGamingChannel https://www.youtube.com/user/KackisHD/videos?&ab_channel=KackisHD https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkmAjbIecTIjTQctolYeuDw?&ab_channel=DattoDoesDestiny Notice how dead the game pretty much is, as you watch them play games with no one but themselves, because the game is in such a critical state, since it's "dying" and all that. You could basically say it's already dead. What I'm trying to say is: You're trophy stats don't mean a damn thing, sure they look scary, but you know just as well as I, that there is more than enough people to play with in Destiny (I mean, try and post your info on an LFG, and watch you're inbox get spammed with invites and messages for raids or other activities) and most seem to be 290 or above. I have no idea where you got these statistics, but I will alleviate you're fear and tell you, that they don't seem to affect Destiny in any way whatsoever. You are overreacting, and I say that because you accuse something very lively like Destiny, to be "dying". As I have shown you above, you people have been around since the launch of Destiny, and you're kind exist on all other popular and relevant games, such as World of Warcraft, each time the hype from a new expansion passes in these games, people blame them of dying, EVEN THOUGH they're updated/played regularly. A game is not dying just because you're a tad bored with it, or because new games come out in November, or because not all 15-20 million people (it's difficult to find exact numbers, I've found) who have bought the game, decided to keep playing it. Please keep that in mind when you state your opinion.

The fact that people still play a game doesn't mean it's not dying. The fact that the player-base is shrinking so rapidly, and so few of the people were retained from year 1 (there were a lot of people who tried Destiny); they're really going to need to kick it into gear to get people to keep investing in this series over 10 years.
your trophy stats don't mean a damn thing.
They actually speak towards Destiny's inability to retain the general population of PSN players more than anything. These numbers are even more important when you consider the overwhelmingly gigantic community of players who absolutely hated this game that can be found in every article posted about Destiny and every thread regarding it that aren't on Bungie.net or r/destinythegame (though those communities are slowly becoming more toxic toward the game as well) Even on every LFG site, you used to be able to find 5x the amount of people during peak hours. LFG threads have been shrinking rapidly in traffic since TTK came out. I can go on any number of custom servers and find people playing the original Halo. Hell, you can still play Modern Warfare 2 on console and PC online until mid-2016. just because you can find people to play with doesn't mean it's not dying.
