Ya know there are different ways to telling a story. It's not necessary to give all the details immediately at the beginning. That's dull and bad storytelling because there's no integration, just all the info smacking you in the face at the start.
Also in terms of tone, I'm wondering if you were able to play the Moon mission when it was available. If not, it was quite dark in tone. Abandoned facilities, corpses strewn across them against walls, darker areas as you descended further into the depths of the moon.

Agreed! That moon mission was very Dark and the Tone was perfect as it raised more questions. Many of the gripes I see about this (Beta) game are about stuff that they didn't understand or experience. Sometimes I wonder if they even played the game.

Because you played as Master Chief He had a life and a story of his own We just followed it But in Destiny, your character is yourself so there's nothing there

Taken at face value (meaning not delving into the expanded universe, which by the way was developed over the course of years where as Destiny is a new IP that's not even out yet) the Master Chief is merely a super soldier going about his duties of saving humanity with his spunky AI. Sound familiar? You're character in Destiny is whoever you want it to be. It's the ambiguity that makes this comparison, the MC has already been written and we're discovering his place in a universe. Our guardian is being written as we play and discover a universe.

In fact, no game really needs those because by the end of the game every choice you made means absolutely [i]nothing[/i]. Look at how "choice" in the Mass Effect trilogy boiled down to becoming digits on a galactic readiness map. Artificially creating an illusion of "choice" with that bull shit is a waste of development time. If you honestly believe that's required for good story telling....well I won't go there.
