Because they made a funny boss that splits into a bunch of balls. All these balls share the boss’s health pool, but take individual damage. You can do funny damage to these balls without tether. If tether was added, every ball would take this funny damage multiplied by 10. That’s too funny for the game and it laughs so hard it crashes

Hear me out, let me take my chances with error codes solo or with my own fireteam, just disable for fireteam finder so you don't run the risk of killing someone else's game with errors
