Adept trials mods don't make a huge difference in a gunfight. Before I had my Adept weapons my non-adept messenger sht all over Adept messengers. That tiny sliver of range from Adept Icarus does nothing, I assure you. It's just for Stat ego stroking. Having an option between a PvE and PvP perk? That doesn't offer an advantage in any ONE mode though. It's a light convenience.
