Again, it would be like selling you a carton a cigarettes, then asking you to pay for the last pack in the carton when you go to get a cigarette from it.
No it's not. It's more like selling you a carton of cigarettes and then showing you a "newer" kind of cigarettes that you want. That emote hasn't been there since the game has been out, it was added.

If Destiny was a free to play game, you’d have my full support. As it stands, I paid $100 for the core game and the season pass. Adding content I cannot own without paying extra, which isn’t a DLC, is not acceptable.

But it's been like that since D1... you kind of knew what you were getting into. It's also not content that impacts game play... it's cosmetic. If I go to a professional sporting event, I paid money to go, but if someone else there has a jersey or a hat I like I can't go to a vendor and say to give me one because I paid to get in just like someone else that has it.

You first have to demonstrate that what they are providing should only be acquired outside the scope of the game. It is one thing to provide a way to pay to accelerate access to certain items, which is common in free to play games. When that mentality filters in to a bought and paid for game, people push back. Bungie specifically stated that Eververse was there to fund the management team in D1. Well, we haven’t gotten to that point in D2. The game just released paid for DLC. Bungie can’t have it both ways and not expect people to complain.

I've said it before, but will say it again, they have 4 billion reasons care less if some people complain.
