Maybe snipers wouldn't camp if bungie would stop nerfing them. It's clear they don't want us to snipe close range so why would they.

It's another one of those 'PvE vs PvP' mechanics/loot issues that plagues the game. Bungie wanted Destiny to be easy to pick up and play by anybody, so they added obscene amounts of AA to every weapon class in the game, and generous hitboxes. In PvP this means that it is incredibly easy to snipe people, even at close range. Their various nerfs to snipers over the years have been bandaids over the gushing wound that is enormous AA - but if they reduced the AA substantially one of two things would happen: - Casual players would barely be able to hit anything in PvE or PvP, and would be very upset - If the removal was only applied to PvP, they would have guns that handled and played very differently between PvE and PvP - which...to be honest I don't think would be the end of the world, but it seems to be very strongly against Bungie's philosophy.

Regardless of how good or bad a sniper is, they'd at least want to try sniping at closer ranges at some point. The only difference would be that the skilled sniper would actually get kills.

I have all the respect in the world for mobile, skilled snipers; people who constantly are finding angles and moving around the map, but those people who just sit on top of the bus on Memento and hold their head down the scopes the entire game just slow down this already croaking game to a standstill.

That's true. But I feel like less people would feel the need to do that if they didn't keep nerfing snipers. They increased the zoom, slowed the zoom time, wrecked short gaze, and biggest of all the took away ammo on respawn. Bungie wants people to chill in the back of the map hardscoping apparently.

Nothing wrong with that. Playing the game as intended. No one should be mad. If they are they need to take a step back

No doubt. But nothing Bungie does is going to eliminate hardscopers. There's a skill gap between the good mobile snipers and the bad ones but with how much aim assist is oozing out of most snipers nowadays, sitting in the back is going to be the easiest way to get kills especially for those that can't snipe. You'll still have people sitting back there.

I'm guessing you've never played a game where sniper rifles exist in any fashion whatsoever, because people camp with snipers as long as they exist. You have snipers, you have campers. It's really that simple. And it's perfectly reasonable, too. That's what snipers are [i]for[/i].

I guess you've never played any fps game before. As long as people have a weapon they will camp. If you think snipers are the thing that cause destiny campers then you don't play this game enough.

Sniper rifles need to be nerfed. In fact, sniper rifles need to be the crappiest weapon for PVP in general. They belong in PVE, for bosses.

Says the sniper spammer. But yes. Bungie should be concentrating on eliminating all methods of camping. Snipers are one shot kill weapons. They need to be extremely limited.

Also there's no such thing as "eliminating all methods of camping" in an fps game like destiny. If people don't want to move then they don't have to and here's not much bungie will do about it. You know what else are one hit weapons? Every other special weapon in the game besides sidearms and they even spawn with ammo. Please don't give any balancing advice when D2 releases I beg of you.

Even as I sit here and post with my phone, half of the enemy team is camping on the other side of the spark with sniper rifles.

Oh, I'll be playing the beta all five days and I will be giving feedback on snipers. It will be 100% negative feedback.

That's fine. I doubt they'll go out of their way to nerf snipers (a power weapon) because of what some dude on the forums says anyway. I think they learned their lesson when it comes to listening to Jims balancing wise.
