Has anyone else done the math and realized that the amount of grinding required to access the boots and gloves makes Iron Banner a horrible time vs reward?
Raid can be run by a competent group in under an hour with two chance for gear. To reach the level 3 in iron banner you need to earn about 3600 rep. At 50 rep per win you are looking at about 72 10 minute games as long as you never lose. 720 minutes is 12 hours.
Your time can go up or down depending on the skill of you and your team as well as the bounty and Iron Banner wearables.
How is a causal player going to earn the gear if the event only lasts one week? You need to put in a good two hours day PER character just to unlock the ability to buy the boots.
This event should last longer and/or ranks should not be completely reset in between events.

IB gear isn't very good compared to raid gear either and looks more like a rare item shaded purple that costs significantly more (shards and resources) than their worth just to attain lvl 30. I am glad though that they are weaker (perks) than raid gear.

I honestly hate the crucible, Iron Banner and PVP in general. I'm despise competitive play. It took me 6 hours just tonight to go from rank 2-3 and I didn't enjoy any second of it. This obviously isn't a gametype for casual or PvE players, but I hate RNG more than anything else in this game. After running the vault countless times and not getting the gear I needed, the Iron Banner seemed like the obvious choice to get my warlock to 30. It wouldn't be so bad if there was some variety in gametypes. Add a little TDM or something, Control takes too damn long to only get a sliver of reputation. I have the buff, the shader and the emblem thus far and I barely get any reputation even in a win, the bounties barely seem to boost rank up either.. That coupled with being thrown into a losing game and being kicked to orbit when you're about to win just makes things worse. It's too long of a process and it's too frustrating, I don't even want to get to the highest rank, I just need the gloves. I'm invested this time around, but this will definitely be the last time I participate in the Iron Banner.

Fuk u. I dominated the IB (killed a lot too) and had a blast while doing so. Rank 5 yesterday and I earned every bit of it. If you see some one walking around looking like Goldmember...know they earned that shit.

Most people don't have the skills to run the vault on hard. Especially since you can't easily push Atheon anymore. Atleast in crucible you can ride coat tails to 30.

Disagree, ive seen plenty of dbags get 1 kill then go afk. Then their team has to carry them for the W.

Impressive. All six bounties twice each? That would net 1200+ if you had all three wearables. Still, I don't see casual players having the skills to complete all six each day. I play a ton and I only manage to knock out the three easy ones each day.

What i didn't like was the auto rifle headshot bounty. It was promoting the SR. I would have liked to see that switch between all gun types.

They are all somewhat easy, just wait for heavy ammo for the lmg head shots

That buff helps as well, I got jolders hammer and it's awesome for the lmg head shots

There are also bounties and buffs that you can by to speed it up. And by wearing the emblem and shader you get even more boost to the rep you gain

I mentioned the wearables. The buff? Would have been nice if they told us it was instantly activated and not storable. I wasted a mote on that when I purchased one intending to store it for later use.

Don't even get me started. I made it to rank 4, bought the boots after 20+ raids on my Warlock about 10 of which were hard mode and not getting the boots. Did the raid immediately after buying them, got the boots when we killed Gatekeepers.

This happens with everything. I brought sparrow telemetry from xur 23 coins. Very next raid I get time breaker. Rnjeezus is a scumbag

That happened to one of my clanmates. He was so happy to finally have boots to max out his titan. Then we ran the raid on normal... Templar dropped him raid boots.

Look at the bright side. IB boots are actually better lookin than raid boots.

This is true but we also have new raid gear coming with the new raid. Supposedly their will be some way to increase the light level of existing gear but no information yet. I don't want to waste 12 hours grinding Iron Banner if I can just wait two weeks. As it is I pretty much just do Nightfall, Heroic and Raids. I am only running IB because my titan needs boots and my hunter needs boots and gloves.
