Don't try to be a hero with it. The arc shield makes it borderline unusable in pvp.

Got a team wipe in gambit using it

It's a cool trade off that makes it interesting. You get a powerful overshield with a machine gun that does more damage per shot than other mgs of its archetype, and the trade off is you have to spin it up (which you can easily do from cover) and you have to be very careful about arc damage. Seems fair to me.

To use like once and then you're just wrecked by an arc logic.
-
Even if you're fighting an arc weapon, the gun gives you 80 extra health and then takes away 130, but that means you're only down 50 health. If you're losing to an arc logic with a machine gun that kills in .33 seconds just because you were down 50 health I think you're the problem, not the gun.

Ok you clearly didn't watch the video or have no idea how elemental shields work. Heir Apparent will lose to any arc weapon, except maybe itself.
-
Firstly, Heir Apparent is not an arc weapon, it is solar, so you clearly don't know that much about it. Secondly, I did watch the video. The person using Heir Apparent missed most of their shots, so it makes sense that they would lose. Thirdly, I stated facts about the weapon that clearly represent why it will not necessarily lose to any arc weapon. You only went off of the video which has many other variables in it such as player skill, map knowledge, and power level. Finally, I'm not trying to say that Heir Apparent is overpowered or anything, or even that I expect many people to use it. I'm just giving it credit for the things it has going for it. Of course it has a disadvantage against arc machine guns, but the disadvantages aren't enough to say that just any old arc weapon will beat Heir Apparent every time. It also has huge advantages against non-arc weapons. You don't have to use it if you don't want to, and that's fine, but I think it could be very useful in the right scenarios, and I think Bungie designed it very well.

The shield gives no resistance to arc damage and you take 130 towards your base health and shields once it pops. Ouch.

Edited by twirlypen: 4/27/2020 8:45:52 PMWhat's extremely odd is that this pve function doesn't work in pve. It only does this against arc weapons in pvp & gambit.

Someone used it in a strike, and the shield was up.
-
Yeah but you don't get the arc explosion that severely damages you if an arc source breaks it in pve.

Because if it had a shield with no counter it would be pretty frustrating and difficult to play against. Reason it’s left the way it is in PvE is because arc damage is far more abundant, and would make the shield close to useless bar a few specific encounters I love the weapon for PvE so far
