Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you will always get Moldering Shards unless you buy the buff. I've just never heard it happen to anyone else before the patch went live. Suddenly it happens to 33% of our fireteam and completely disregarded that my friend had 20 shards to increase loot from Oryx. Before yesterday at least I have always gotten somerhing more than the shards. (I actually thought a primary was a guaranteed drop).
