You don't have to play the game for a ridiculous amount of time to stumble upon something. Anyway, the quest starts after all the Golden Age relics are found, but you need the other 4 as well. 2 of them drop from SABER

You might be referring to something else. I'm talking about the fusion rifle relics that you turn into the gunsmith. The first 4 that you find as drops.

Of course I don't have them in my inventory. You turn each one into the gunsmith as you get them.
