To get a taste of what ToO is like there's Elimination in regular crucible. It has skill based MM.

Question is: will it be of any importance after TTK is released. Will there be updated rewards? As of now most people do not even bother with it. A game mode which has a degrading amount of people playing it because many just leave out of frustration definitely has no future.

The degrading number of people is in direct relation to the skill gap. At this point, there are almost no teams running around Trials who haven't gone flawless. If you try to use LFG and haven't done Trials a ton, you will likely get schooled and schooled hard. You will struggle to get a win, let alone 9. People have realized that and no longer return to the mode. Destiny calls this end-game content. While I think that's an exaggeration, I do think it can be a marquee game Mode for destiny as a whole, but it has to be accessible and fun for those that play - it is neither unless you have a regular team you run with. MM with a Trials-specific skills matching algorithm is exactly the thing that would bring back the masses to this mode.

Exactly, hoping this will bring people back, as they wont get matched with pros/tryhards right off the bat. And hoping they do more with it in TTK. They still haven't added the Fate of All Fools or Dawnbreaker.
