Control Matchmaking feels better to me.
Casual PvP player here. I will be interested to see how the SBMM changes effected the control playlist engagement numbers in a couple months. I suspect they will be up overall.

SBMM has a history of dividing and ruining PVP games if implemented poorly. SBMM will just highlight a lot of the problems in Destiny 2 PVP. Right now so may think its beneficial to the game, but in a month or two once the population decreases enough, the matchmaking parameters will increase so that it doesn't take 30 mins to find a match. Then we will be back at square 1, all the casuals will be complaining about being matched with PVP elites. If your bad at PVP, use this time to practice and get better, it will get worse.

11 RepliesNot me its atrocious. The wait times alone are reason to revert. I am a low skill player who was more than happy to get farmed for 15 minutes get my loot and leave. Now I have to wait upwards of 30 minutes to play a game that goes to time. 45 minutes a game compared to 5 to 10 minutes. I know what I prefer.

31 RepliesHistorically sbmm drives out players and leads to the death of pvp entirely. This instance won't be any different then the 3 tried before it. Bungie will panic at the player loss and flip cb back on to save the playerbase. Then lower end players will cry for 2 years thier ineptitude isn't being catered towards and well flip back.

9 RepliesIt's going to be a major positive, it only harms cheaters, Stat paddlers, and unfortunately those that are legitimately 4.0 and above. Play someone just as lethal is not punishment I would rather play someone capable than someone who isn't and would rather have good teammates then bad ones. Sweats don't use casual loadouts and that's a fact so the always sweating crap is a load of crap.sweats always sweats that's why they are good In the first place.

But its really looking like they can pretty much call this first week a smashing success. This is probably about as good as a rollout of SBMM could have possibly gone with this game and over the next few weeks things are likely to get better for some of the people that may have it rough right now. Beyond that really depends on how much the people that like it or came back to play it keep playing. The only thing that the happy people should remember is that SBMM didn't fail immediately last time either, it actually took two or three seasons. There's also the quitting, which could be seen as not such a good sign but there's most likely some things that can be done to reduce that. And a lot of it could just be because its the beginning of the season and some people need to play more. As far as the stacking, if people are going to do that they shouldn't be able to then play solo and have the game treat them like they are still playing with their stacked team plus the team they are now on to where you feel like you're playing 12 people if you're on the opposite team. It would also be cool if playing on a team wasn't a way to eventually get the special treatment but its probably pretty hard to totally eliminate that.
