Remove Whisper of the Worm from heavy to special slot
In some TWAB Bungie said that if after the Whisper of the Worm buff it won't be used either - they'll think about moving it to a special slot, it seems to me that time has come. In the special slot it will be able to compete for Izanagi, now it can't.

I'd love this, great sniper, sounds and looks awesome. However, no one is ever going to use it over an ACTUAL heavy weapon. There's no reason to.

1 ReplyIMO, it needs to have crit damage increased, magazine increased to 6, increase reserves and bring back white nail where it was originally or just make it a legendary special weapon. presently I just shoot ads with it and the odd yellow bar, it’s a shame.

No. Then it will do less damage. I think we need more heavy snipers to compete with LFRs. What Whisper really needs is an actual ability. They can’t buff it, because “be best DPS weapon” is not an interesting exotic, it just hurts the game’s balance. Maybe they could add something like “while you have an applied restoration or radiant effect, White Nail will not consume rounds from reserves.”

7 RepliesI disagree. The gun does damn good damage, if it gets moved, it'll get nerfed. Also, special slot is already over crowded. No need to add more to it. The issue players face with the gun isn't the gun itself. It's just a throw back to when bosses had big crit spots and just stood there. Bungie changed that, so it's harder to use to get the most out of it. I'm cool with that cause they improved boss fights. Also, div exists and is wotm best friend.

Honestly snipers overall need help in pve. There is no time when there is not a better choice of weapon

OR they could make ALL weapons that use heavy ammo worth of being in that slot.

1 ReplyRick kackis just made a video testing the best heavies vs oryx and whisper was actually in the top 3 highest damaging weapons. It was actually on par with a god roll storm chaser Keep in mind this was a standard damage phase with just 4 bombs. The problem with whisper is it takes 9+ shots to see its benefits as a dps weapon and most bosses don't have dps phases that long.

Theres no reason to use a heavy sniper when linear fusions exist, should definitely be moved

19 RepliesNope. Whisper of the Worm is a weapon that never should have returned to the game. Bungie thought that making it an exotic heavy would fix the problems it creates, but they were wrong.

Heavy snipers is a dumb idea. The only time I ever used one was DARCI and that was in the thrallway to get the catalyst done.

Whisper of the worm is now a shadow of it's former self, used to be really good in PvE end game content, now reduced to pretty icon in collections...

3 RepliesIf it gets moved to special then it'll end up getting nerfed to compensate. Whisper's main problem isn't its stats anyways, rather that the game has shifted towards smaller, faster, and/or more belligerent enemies over the big dumb blocks of tungsten nailed to the floor that were common in Y1 & Y2.

It’s unfortunate that whisper lives in a world of fast dps phases. it has every other option beat out in total dps but phases never last that long. its like a minute to empty the entire mag+reserves. Even if they put it in the special slot it still wont be good.
