Bungie your lack of RPG knowledge is showing.

First and foremost doing things differently sometimes can cause panic at first then really turn out to be great, or you can just look really dumb and not know what your doing. This is what i see whats going on with Bungie's Destiny right now. I've came from Playstation (never owned a Halo game but or played it) and on playstation you have to admit whether is the PS 1,2, or 3 is the king of RPG's. Im not sure if Japan invented RPG's but they constantly take it to another level almost unmatched by anyone. Don't get me wrong Blizzard is in the Top 3 for RPG's in the world but I'm strictly talking about consoles here. So as I stated before Playstation is RPG heaven and no other consoles come close so i feel like an RPG veteran and i see alot of dumb decision making on Bungies behalf. 1. Fire team size is ridiculously low, this is next gen 3 was cool back in PS1 and PS2 days but we are way past that. And no the 3 Class argument does not apply here, there are not 3 classes there are 3 guardians and there are 9 classes/sub classes. This in itself is very confusing, so a class is a hunter and the sub-class is gunslinger???? So whats a guardian or is the Hunter the class and the guardian??? Either way this is not a good layout in my humble opinion, but back to the fire team 3 is just too low and 4 is industry standard for a co-op experience. Now the raids i like, but 6 being the max with other MMO's being 8 is not cool, the more the marrier. 2. No match making in Raids, WHY???? Did you not have enough time to implemented it or were you trying to be different? Don't you guys understand that some people have jobs and lives and sometimes its hard 2 get a 6 man team. Do you want us to jump in the tower and randomly start inviting people to our fire team and hope they would join?? 3. D PAD being used up only for emotes?? Who thought of this??? There should be one button on the d pad that gives your options for a multitude of emotes not just 4, and the rest of the D pad buttons should be used on useful actions such as summoning your sparrow, or going to orbit, or anything else. You know im right, now i did not say eliminate the emotes just change it to one button with a drop down menu with a bunch of choices. 4.Getting booted out of a mission once its complete. I want to leave the mission when i want to not get a timer when its complete, and i would love to hold down one of the D pad buttons to go straight to orbit. 5. Friendly Fire teams should be able to switch to the same Phase. It's bad enough I have to leave out a friend to do a strike and story mission but why on explore? That makes no sense, Bungie put some damn sense back into your game. 6.PVP gear should not be usable in PVE, you should do a better job of separating the 2. I know lots of players that can't stand PVP and want no part of it but Destiny has a very heavy focus on PVP. So PVP gear should not work in PVE and vice versa. I don't mind PVP but im going to spend 80% of my time in PVE, and you guessed it 20% in PVP. Those are a few changes in my opinion that would make Destiny a better game if you agree or disagree please do it in a orderly fashion.

    • Lol you call yourself an RPG veteran because you played playstation since it's inception. Well I you have you would have noticed the game that came out when ps2 launched it's online adapter... Everquest Online Adventures. The RPG elements in this game seem similar. 1. The class system is kinda the same. You pick a class then you have a subclass. EQOA ex. You pick a barbarian (race), warrior (class), then later you can choose to be a defender (subclass) or a Hero (subclass). Anyway it just gave them different skills and made the character more versatile. Learn RPGs 2. Who cares about the emotes... Yes they could have mapped the controls differently. Actually, if you use EQOA as an example again they mapped the controller so well, with the D-pad opening a directional menu. YouTube it. 3. The game isn't out and all of what you said May or May not be relevant, however, I think it's just cause you're bored and don't have shit else to do but post garbage like this.

      • All subjective opinions aside, 3 IS the standard party size. Tank, Heals, DPS. And it has been this way since D&D, Warrior, Healer, Theif.... More just allows for more wiggle room... And because Healer isn't a needed class, two Tank classes and a DPS...don't see what a 4th person needs to be there for. And as pointed out, the game is built for teams of 3, so 4 would make things too easy.

        • Some of these are pretty good suggestions. Emotes like in the final fantasy mmo could be ok. But destiny is faster paced and using a quick emote was also kinda cool. I don't see the need to make pvp gear unusable in pve. There's no pvp stat like in most mmo/rpg games. The gear works exactly like pve gear does. And in the rpg games you compare this to the pvp gear can be used for pve as well. It's just not as good and has pvp stats. The class breakdown was pretty straightforward, especially if you have played any other rpg/mmo games. Everyone is a guardian. Then you have your class. Titan, hunter, warlock. Each class has 2/3 subclasses. The recent hugely successful Star Wars mmo worked the exact same way. You are a Jedi knight that's your class. Then you have two subclasses. Pretty simple. Some of the other suggestions make sense tho. Straight to orbit with one button instead of two in series seems a bit nit picky but ok. Changing phase worked well I thought but may I misunderstand you

            • A few thoughts as to your post (all in my opinion).I think the d-pad idea is great, it would be a nice little quality of life change! The fire team/raid size complaints, I think that having more in a team or raid would be unnecessary. The fact that the game is an fps as well as an rpg is a big reason for smaller teams, because unlike most MMOs or RPGs, and the fps aspect of this cause allows quicker, more complex gameplay and a higher damage output from the player. (In terms of enemies' health ratio). This is why more players in a team is unnecessary. Also, about the pvp/pve weapons seperation, as long as the pvp gear is not going to stomp out pve weapons in terms of quality, seperation is not a good idea.

                I'm sorry, other then Pokemon I hate Japanese rpg's, could never get into them, well Zelda was also awesome. and western rpg's were the first, they came about do to dnd(dungeons and dragons). Also PS did not have exclusive skyrim content like Xbox, therefore it loses the rpg supremacy war, also Mass Effect, the first, I don't want to talk about 3. And I do agree with the option to leave the strike over the sending you to orbit.

                      In the game you play as a guardian of the last safe city on earth. As a guardian you can choose between the classes of hunter, titan, or warlock. After selecting the class of your guardian, you are given a subclass, and unlocking a couple others as you level up, and then being able to change between them afterwards. Also using gear in PvP isn't really that heavy of a focus unless you play iron banner, in regular PvP a balance system in in play, so that no one person's gear is OP. And the game is heavily focused on PvE. They made the game so you would go around collecting better gear, level up and try to beat the next mission/strike/raid. It just appears that PvP is a major focus because of the alpha and beta. Though, that is because of the tiny amount of gameplay we really received. Being limited to level 8 resulted in most people mostly playing PvP.

                          • Yeah, the emote issue was one of the first things I saw too. I would set emotes to one of the d pad buttons and let it bring up a circular list to navigate with the right stick. Could then just point to one of maybe eight different choices.

                          • 1. Needs to be low due to FPS mechanics. Plus, communication becomes muddied with more players. 2. It's asinine to try to do matchmaking for a mode that requires an immense amount of communication and coordination. I have a full time job too; but guess what, I found coworkers who are down for raiding, so that's one team that's easy to coordinate with. Additionally, this site has a lot of awesome groups that can be joined for this exact purpose. There are many like-minded gamers as you, so finding 5 other people that hate not having matchmaking can bitch to each other while playing a raid together :-P Watch this... That's a completely subjective statement. I have zero qualms with the controller layout. 4. There is obviously a greater point to them doing the countdown timer. It will probably tie into Easter eggs and secrets at full release. 5. You obviously have no savvy when it comes to networking. I'm sure Bungie wanted to keep you in at least 6 man teams for explore, but it just makes no sense technically and financially. The larger your team is, more slots are needed on the server you all migrate to when moving from one area to the next. This means Bungie would need almost twice the number of servers they currently do, and it would result in far more sporadic and sparse population of the game world with other players. 6. What is the point of this comment? Neither you nor any of us have any clue about how PVP weapons and gear affects PVE play, and vice versa. Plus, Bungie did their due diligence for balancing in this game with the way stats work, so no matter what mode you take your gear into, you're not going to feel OP or UP. To me, it sounds like you are nitpicking conventions that were meant to be broken/played around with. And considering this game is not supposed to be like other games, I don't think your criticisms are valid.

                                • These are pretty much all opinions. And, Bungie has said this time and time again: this is an FPS first, RPG second. If the idea makes sense for an RPG but none for an FPS, it's ignored. And again, most of these are opinions. Most of these features actually make sense if you think about them.

I would say they are the king of jrpg's, but I don't like or play them. The 2 rpg titles that really impressed me in recent years, are Mass Effect and Dragon Age, and both are available on Xbox. TES games also comes to mind, which is also multiplat. Regardless what size party you would have in the game, if the game was designed around 3 man Fireteams, what argument do you have that it doesn't work? Also, the fact that we are in the "next-gen" era, has nothing to do with anything. You seem to be implying that because we are in the age of Xbox One and PS4, that Fireteam should be larger than 3 players, based off that fact alone - your argument is flawed. The only point you make of worth, is mentioning that 4 players tends to be industry standard, and in terms of playability or "user friendliness?" 4 would likely work better than 3.
