They can’t. Regardless of how much they claim they can, they just can’t.
Now the base classes are affected because of the synergy of how prismatic was designed. So it’s not just a nerf to prismatic. Nightstalkers, strand, and solar subclasses just ate a nerf. Prismatic was just a bad idea.

Prismatic is the most fun I’ve had in Destiny. If anything, the other subclasses need a buff. They have great synergy within their class already that the buff wouldn’t need to be that significant. Definitely don’t need an unintentional nerf.

The problem is if they buff or nerf anything, it effects all versions of that ability. So the smoke grenade nerf won’t just affect prismatic, it will also affect nightstalker. Same with strand. All solar classes are being nerfed with the swarm grenade nerf. Unfortunately that’s the problem with prismatic. You buff or nerf anything, and it will affect the base classes. Bungie just doesn't want to put in the effort required to make these changes. They've fired the majority of their developers. One of my rl childhood best friends still works as a Senior Developer at Bungie.
