Titan Barricade and Supers: Inefficient and Outclassed

Most Titan Supers are just very inefficient, especially in regards to PvP. Because the vast majority of them rely on being in melee range, it usually puts us at a distinct disadvantage versus the other classes, especially in open maps where they can see us coming because we have to expose ourselves significantly longer and risk getting arbitrarily shot to pieces before we can reach someone. Not only that, if smart players just chose to run away there’s literally nothing we can do about it and I’ve lost count of how many Supers have been wasted just because players chose to jump around rather than engage me. Worst of all, Hunters and Warlocks many times hold onto their Supers just for this purpose and can instantly counter me from range with abilities like Shadowshot and Nova Bomb. And there’s literally nothing I can do about it. There’s literally only two Titan subclasses with a consistent ranged option for Supers in Solar for throwing hammers and Thundercrash for Arc. Outside of those, you’re out of luck. Void tries to approximate this with Sentinel Shield, but because it’s still trying to be this weird hybrid melee build it’s too inconsistent to really be useful and the shield throw is just slow as well. This doesn’t just negatively affect us in PvP either, it makes it more difficult to engage powerful PvE foes and bosses with our Supers without getting crushed by powerful melee AOEs and burns. Take the Prophecy dungeon as an example. The Kell final boss stomps if you get in melee range which can either kill you outright or just drop you off the ledges to die afterwards. And because it’s a movement fight you have little opportunity to sit on him and wail away even if you could survive the damage. —— Regarding Barricade, in its current form it’s just quite simply outclassed by other classes abilities and too limited in function. Compared to Warlock’s healing wells, it feels far weaker because it not only offers no healing outside of certain subclasses but also because it can be easily destroyed by just a bit of concentrated fire whereas healing wells cannot. A Warlock can pop a healing well at a corner and easily keep healing himself constantly while taking cover when needed. Barricade by comparison can be easily countered simply by jumping right over it and shooting the wounded Titan at point blank range and there’s pretty much nothing you can do to stop it as it impedes your own fire. As for Hunter’s invisibility, there’s no comparison which is more effective when it comes to keeping you alive. —- So this what I propose: Every Titan subclass eventually gets either a dedicated ranged Super option or a one-shot Thundercrash/Nova Bomb esque equivalent alongside the melee versions. Rework the Void Super to mimick the Void Hive Lightbearers with two shields on each arm that you can consistently keep throwing for the duration. For Barricade, make the Citan’s Ramparts exotic effect baseline so Titans and their teammates can shoot through it without reducing the duration or damage absorb. As well, consider extending it a bit to bend around the sides and top so that people can’t just easily counter it simply by jumping. This would make Barricade more effective for personal survivability and team protection while bringing it more up to par with other classes abilities. Many experienced players have acknowledged that Titans just aren’t as equipped for PvP as Warlocks and Hunters and need a bit of a leg up, these could help balance things out a bit more.

  • I’ve been complaining about these Titans issues for several seasons. These are some results after my complaints. Supers still suck. The one hit kill melee was removed from pvp. The bastion bulwark barricade was given only to be nerfed in a matter of weeks of its release. The bubble or dome should trap or pull combatants into it until they are killed or the dome subsides. Prevent Titans from being stomped or bounced out of the dome. Fire weapons and abilities through the dome and barricade. NOTHING HAS CHANGED !
