Question about stasis/solar
If stasis is supposed to be the Darkness’s antithesis to solar, why do people believe that solar should be resistant to stasis and not Weaker to it?
A note of clarification; my question is not meant to imply that I myself believe stasis to be opposite of solar (or stasis/ice solar/fire for that matter).
Instead the question is posed to those that DO think stasis and solar is opposite; if something (stasis) was specifically created to be the opposite of something else (solar) why would it (stasis) be the weaker one and not the stronger one.

Well, if all things are equal to their opposite then nether would have any effect on the other. No matter how hard one trys to destroy the other they just simply cannot, their resistances are just as strong as their attacks.

14 RespostasIt’s a two way street, that is why there is no resistance or weakness. They fight each other but one isn’t dominate. People think Stasis is Ice, it isn’t. Just like solar isn’t actually fire. Solar is high energy, the lore card “The universe is defined by fundamental forces. Energy is carried by quanta, tiny messengers of change. In the understanding of these messengers lies the secret of Solar Light.” So think of it as high energy entropy. A high energy source undergoing rapid change (like taking a flaming hammer to the head causes rapid change lol) creates a heat. We only see the end result, the heat burning things. So it’s deceptive. Stasis doesn’t have a lore card like Light powers, but there are plenty of descriptions. Notably is the crystalline aspect and “freezing” effect. Crystals are made of neatly ordered rigid cells. Rigidity is the opposite of change, neatly ordered is the opposite of the chaos change can make. So it’s more like low energy entropy. Both signify a fundamental cosmic law. That’s what the “elements” actually are, cosmic laws. Bungie was stupid and entertained common gamer jargon instead of sticking with their own terms and now players are horribly confused about important basic of the lore.

Stasis and solar deal with entropy. Solar is about making things fast and stasis slowing, molecules moving quick(solar) and then slowing into a eventually stop (stasis). That’s the mirror dynamic they have

If the are polar opposite energies they would reject each other equally or mutually eliminate. That said entropy is the opposite of excited particles...I tend to be of a theory similar to what is hinted about in the star wars universe. There is only the force. There is not light, or dark, only the force. You can use it to create, you can use it to destroy, but it all comes from the same source. In star wars the reason why the powers of the Jedi tend to be uniform, formulaic, is because they teach a doctrine, this is how the force is used, and this is what is used for. Meanwhile the sith powers vary wildly, because their power is the product of independent exploration and research. The powers of the guardians may be a product of having seen the way others use their power and mimicking it rather than starting from a blank slate and discovering for them selves what they are capable of. There is only the power. Those born from the travelers light use the light see them selves as servants of a higher purpose, servants of the dark see only the struggle to survive. But both are only conduits to a greater power that pervades the universe. Trying to make us pick a side.

I think there a misconception that Solar is just fire and Stasis is just ice, when both are just visual effects designed to easily identified by players.

Yin and Yang, interactions between them would be cool, as countering each other is effectively canceling out.

2 RespostasTechnically, Arc would be the antithesis to Stasis. I'm just assuming here your thinking the opposite of cold is hot and your not wrong. But the way I see it is, no movement and movement of particles. The colder something is the less it moves, and the hotter something is the more it moves. Electricity has more movement the Fire. Not trying to say your wrong or anything I'm just giving my opinion on it. I guess a easy way to think of it is the Flash and Captain Cold.

Fire Also, see Path of the Burning Steps. Literally a solar, anti-stasis exotic, that certainly fits the definition of stasis "resistant".
