I'd probably say either burning maul, top tree striker or bottom tree tether are worse for pvp.
Burning mauls nerf made it so inconsistent and it's a melee super with no lunge on the light attack that barely kills players with multiple inputs due to the lag and because it's a multi hit, it also burns way too much energy.
The slam is the super and that can be avoided just by jumping.
You also come to a dead stop when you do it.
The neutral game is also not quite useful unless you stack at least 2 which is kind of hard.
Top tree striker has a really good neutral and a powerful super...but the super burns out SO fast that it's just not worth using.
The slam also has such a crappy horizontal and vertical radius that you basically have to kiss them just to kill them.
When it works it works, but it's just not efficient.
I don't really think I have to explain bottom tree tether.
Nova warp is just better top tree fist of havoc (in terms of boom) for pvp, but that boom comes at such a high cost that it's sometimes not even worth charging.
Its radius is huge, but losing all access to mobility and being slowed is quite stupid.
You HAVE to gap close, which costs a ton of energy (or jump blink) and by the time you get there they just...disperse.
And you can't use it in pve because its ass.
Handheld is still very potent but something on it should be reverted like the hold time (the self damage is unlikely to get reverted).
The melee is also supposed to have the delay on explosion because it pushes them away...but it should explode a little sooner.
As a whole it has potential to be good but it's just stuck on its nerfs that hurt it so bad.
The super honestly just needs a more useful light attack and the heavy attack should lose that slow effect.
Otherwise...its basically just a roaming burning maul slam.

Try using the enhanced shoulder charge light attacks with top tree striker’s super and only slamming when multiple ppl are around and you can surprise them. I think you’ll enjoy it a lot more because it lasts much longer that way, has an insane range, 1 hits, and can spread everywhere with dunemarchers
-
I know it can do that, but it burns your super so quick that unless you are near enemies to begin with it's a waste. It's really not too great on more spaced out maps, but it's always satisfying to kill people with it. Especially hitting a target with the slam.

Burning mauls not bad in pvp. The only subclass near as bad as it it thundertrash
-
I do like using burning maul, but using it recently I found myself annoyed with enemies just jumping through the explosion on the projectile. That one nerf to it really made its consistency drop.
-
Burning maul is insane its tornadoes chase opponents around corners and with recent buffs even if you're in the air your still getting hit by the tornado
-
That's why I said its slam the super.
-
bottom tree tether is good as it is, not top tier but good. Amazing in pve
-
I'm not necessarily going to disagree with you (especially not in pve), but I feel like there are some issues using the super itself. It feels very...clunky.
-
Top tree striker?! Hardly!
-
The neutral game no, the super I would say so. It's just inferior nova warp and that really says something. It's only gap closer takes a 7th of the super bar, the heavy attack has a much smaller radius and has to touch the ground to deal damage, the time between slams is so long you can actually start walking for a second before you can slam again. The fact that it has an activation kill capabilities and it being able to one shot supers is like it's only real advantage, but neither of these matter all that much when your supers burns out faster than you can die in it.
-
I’m afraid my experience of the upper does not match your description.
-
Everything I listed is correct though. It does burn out really quickly when you attack with it, the slam is way more restricted than nova warps is, the time between each slam is way too long and it's only method of gap closing is spamming your light attack which you can only do 7 times. I don't think its necessarily bad the way it is, it's just so outdated that it's just not worth using in either pve or in pvp, even though it IS really fun to use. But in terms of actual power, bottom tree is superior for pvp neutral as well as the super. You can test all these things if you want, it's always best to see it in play rather than just reading someone say it does something.
-
Yea I’m not like the majority of this games player-base that comments on things they don’t actually use. I use both supers frequently (nova warp mainly for fun factor cos it looks and sounds cool), and without a doubt, top tree striker is superior. And it is certainly the better pvp option of all the striker trees.
-
I like top tree for fun factor but results don't lie dude and it really doesn't bring enough to the table to warrant its use. Bottom tree lasts longer and is way more effective for competitive style pvp as well as overall pve. Feel free to disagree but I have extensive playtime using both and without a doubt I found bottom tree to give me better results than top tree, simply because the super can pretty much carry your ass because of how stupid it is, and this is nerfed bottom tree I'm talking about.
-
In this game like most others, ‘results’ are highly dependent on the individual’s on capabilities
-
That's true, but it doesn't really change what I said. It's really not some complicated or difficult to use super, you just have to time its use right unlike most of the other roaming supers due to its energy cost.
