With all due respect to your time and effort in farming for these weapons...... ...that list of weapns is a walking advertisement for WHY weapon retirement is necessary. Just look at that list of weapons. Vitually every weapon is a Reload Perk/Damage perk roll. The weapons that aren't---I'm assuming because they wer for PVP---all have weapon handling perks. There is almost NO build diversity or perk diversity in that list of weapons. They are all variations on the same theme over and over again. Which is why I just smh at this notion that Bungie is "Taking our guns to make us grind for the same ones all over again". BECAUSE ITS WHAT WE'RE DOING RIGHT NOW. So if that were their agenda, all they'd have to do is keep doing what they're doing now. No need to trigger all this player outrage.

  • But on a serious note what other perks are on weapons apart from damage & reload perks. The difference is what kind of flavour do you prefer? Which depends on your play style & what activities you play.

And when the “new” weapons release, and I use the term “new” loosely, the god rolls will once again be....get ready for it...reload/damage, whatever form they take. Sunsetting will have been for nothing. Myself I prefer max stability/max accuracy roles. Steady rounds/moving target/zen moment/stability mw/targeting-adjuster last perdition has been my favourite laser this season.

Sunsetting will have been for nothing.
If they don't overhaul the weapon system and their perks? Sure. It will be an epic fail. Which is why I've been saying only that Sunsetting is NECESSARY....but it alone is not sufficient to fix the game. It is just needed to give Bungie the game design ROOM to create more powerful perks and a wider variety of perks....without recreating the power creep problems of last year. Its also why I've been saying that Bungie needs to look at drop rates, generosity, and how difficulty scales in this game. Because letting weapons hang around forever, let Bungie get away with a number of bad game design habits. Ones that Sunsetting will shine a VERY harsh light on if they don't also take this time to fix them. Smith's Directors Cuts imply that Bungie is aware of this. But Talk Doesn't Cook The Rice....they need to move on these issues, and deliver the necessary improvements. Or Sunsetting will fall as flat on its face as Trials did this season...and the community will have every right to be mad.
Yeah so instead of creating new perks.
No, in addition to creating new ones.
Its easier to nerf every good perks so the ones that you dont even notice feels like good optio
You can't create a balanced game if all the power in it is piled up in one corner. You can't spread it more evenly if you leave it there.
Waw cant wait to have a handcanon with hip fire grip and field prep considered as a god roll XD
If everyone is special, then no one is special. You need the bad perks to make the good ones stand out. No Mara? No Buddha.

  • Only idiots keep and use guns that don’t have effective useful perks. Why would you bother to fill your vault up with crap? And as for the obligatory well everyone uses the same gear and it’s boring reply... not everyone is a sheep and don’t you have a mind of your own to choose not too?

  •
Only idiots keep and use guns that don’t have effective useful perks.
What makes you think that YOUR definition of that term is the only valid one? Or that playing only the most damage efficient weapons in the game is the only fun-and-rewarding way to play?
Why would you bother to fill your vault up with crap?
I don't. But I play mutliple builds and play in different ways. I keep the gear that supports that. Only "playing the meta" is a narrow, one-dimensional way of playing the game....and it gets stale pretty quickly. Its probably why so many of you are feeling frustrated and burned out, becasue you literally are doing the same things in the same ways every day.
not everyone is a sheep and don’t you have a mind of your own to choose not too?
I could ask you the same thing...and I do choose for myself. Which is why I have a vault full of stuff you want to call "crap" because it doesn't fit the way YOU choose to play the game...and you want to imply that there is something wrong with those who don't play the way YOU play.

  • I have a very diverse selection of gear that I play with... But ‘I’ don’t keep crap. Everyone’s definition of crap is different. I also don’t insist others use the meta when I raid as they are not sheep and have the right to try other loadouts if they want. I know players who leave raids when others do that and I won’t play with them again if they have that attitude. My point is different things matter to different players but crap is still crap.

  •
But I play mutliple builds and play in different ways. I keep the gear that supports that. Only "playing the meta" is a narrow, one-dimensional way of playing the game
And yet, as I post this, the weapons you have on your characters are: Warlock: • Service Revolver: Rapid Hit / Rampage / Overload Rounds • Felwinter's Lie • Seventh Seraph SAW: Grave Robber / Firing Line / Boss Spec Hunter: • Warden's Law: Drop Mag / Kill Clip / Overload Rounds • Felwinter's Lie • Xenophage Titan: • Seventh Seraph Officer Revolver: Drop Mag / Ambitious Assassin / Timed Payload / Overload Rounds • Seventh Seraph VY-7: Ambitious Assassin / Dragonfly / Anti-Barrier SMG • Xenophage Other than Dragonfly instead of Feeding Frenzy on the SMG and Grave Robber on the SAW, you are completely "playing the meta", especially with Felwinter's Lie and Xenophage. If you really played "mutliple builds", I would expect to see at least one weapon that was really different. Instead, we see just a single non-meta perk choice (Grave Robber), which could just mean you don't have the drop, or perhaps there is enough synergy with the Sunbracers you are wearing to help you do more damage. Hypocrite much?

Guys, check it out! It’s kellygreen! Also, Kelly, do you prefer pulse monitor, hip fire grip, field prep, over rapid hit, grave robber, Quickdraw, rangefinder, snapshot sights, opening shot, outlaw, rampage, kill clip, and swashbuckler? No. No one does. And OP, I’m sorry for ur losses and wasted time. Stay safe everyone!

  • 1. Don't put words in my mouth. I'm perfectly capable of speaking and thinking for myself. I don't need your help. a. Pulse monitor is a actually a very good perk and has saved my ass a number of times in both PVP and PVE when I'm playing in an aggressive, CQC fashion, or playing solo in a content where there are lots of fast moving, rushing trash mobs. It has saved me from getting over run on a number of occasions. b. Field Prep is actually very useful in end-game cotent when you're either playing as----or with---a Titan using Rally Barricade. The faster reload is helps when you're trying to do as much damage as possible during a time-limited damage phase against a boss. 2. The "meta" perks you mentioned are only useful when one is playing a particular way. Either in PVP or in PVE content where most gun fights are at mid-range and the NPCs allow you the time and space to get off precision shots. Just because I don't engage the game in the narrow, arguably UNIMAGINATIVE way that you do, DO NOT assume that I don't know what I'm doing. Because you would be **sadly** mistaken.

  • That list is a shining example of just how shitty every other perk is... Once they sunset and nerf those perks everyones loadout will be the next best thing anyway... Seems like you guys rather have hip fire grip/pulse monitor guns as god rolls 🤦‍♂️

  • If people play in “unimaginative” ways it’s because they lack any decent builds. The lack of builds has more to do with lack luster perk selection and the horrible subclass skill tree than it has to do with sunsetting

The two are connected. The reason why the perk tree is bland is because nothing ever leaves the game. So we’ve hit a power ceiling and the game can’t give us any new power to chase. This is the point you guys keep stubbornly refusing to hear: You can’t give players power FOREVER in loot games like this. If you do, you break the game. If you shut off the supply of power to chase, people lose interest in playing. That is why this situation is unsustainable...,and why I said five years ago that this day was inevitable. The only surprise was that Bungie’s arrogance was such that they managed to hold out for 5 years.

  • With due respect to your time and effort, all this guy might want is a little support or comfort after seeing his hard work become redundant in the near future. Empathy in your response was what I was hoping to see. It is sadly absent. That post IMO was about what the player needed from the community, not about what the games requires from the community. Hey paintballnsk, if you read this, I feel that kick in the groin too! I have too long a list to type but the only hope we have is that Bungie makes it worthwhile. Otherwise, we have the power to choose whether to continue playing D2 or the sunset D2 ourselves. You're not alone Guardian!

Empathy in your response was what I was hoping to see. It is sadly absent. That post IMO was about what the player needed from the community, not about what the games requires from the community.
Dude, this isn't group therapy...and it is not my resposibility to nurture/validate his feelings. Especially when those feelings advocate for a course of action that is detrimental to the health of the game....and will negatively impact my experience of playing it. The amount of time someone CHOSE (Bungie didn't force him to grind for specific rolls, he CHOSE to do this) to grind for weapons is NOT a valid reason to pursue a course of action that will break the game as a loot game. What he is "going through" is a STANDARD PART OF PLAYING ANY LOOT GAME ON A LONG-TERM BASIS. Which is why my first admonition to anyone playing a loot game is "Don't fall in love with the gear." These games are designed in a way that the fun is in the chase....not in having and keeping forever. Bungie was an outlier in thinking they could defy this game design rule....and after five year of trying everything possible...they are finally having to admit failure. Admit failure and do what is necessary to preserve the long-term health of the game.
Otherwise, we have the power to choose whether to continue playing D2 or the sunset D2 ourselves. You're not alone Guardian!
Most relevant thing you've said. Every loot game retires power from the game. If there are people playing Destiny who cannot abide by the NECESSITY to do this, then this kind of game is not for them, and they would be happier playing a conventional shooter or a crafting game that will allow them to keep everything.

Am I supposed tp make apologies for even looking out for another's needs? You are narcissistic. Period. It's always, in your opinion, someone else's shortcoming or fault for doing what they did. We are meant to make mistakes, have shortcomings and a lack of foresight. That is what makes us mortal humans. The fact that you ignored a community member's frustrations and penned a condescending and insensitive reply only makes you stand out as someone we do not aspire to be. This is not about Destiny;s requirements, but instead showing a little support, kindness and respect towards another who is feeling low. The primary trait of the self-righteous narcissist is a sincere lack of empathy. Pal, you need therapy. Pull your head out.
