Being forced to use a certain weapon type in end game PvE content like master nightfall, nightmare hunts and garden of salvation isn’t a good experience. It really feeling like the system is deliberately creating an annoyance and limiting my character build options rather then being an additive game mechanic. This seasons barrier mods only being on SMGs and sidearms particularly exacerbates the issue I have with the current system. Here are some ideas I feel would improve the system.
-Update old pre weapons 2.0 weapons or introduce new weapons with the ability with roll with a counter champion perk (a perk for each not a universal champion perk). Having to choose a weapon with one of these perks over one with top tier perks like trench barrel/kill clip/rampage Etc would keep non champion rolled weapons still a desirable option.
-Change the weapon specific seasonal champion mods to provide a noticeable damage boost against champions. This will keep the incentive to use the bungie curated load-outs intact and enable players without the champion perk rolled weapons to engage with the content.
-Allow exotics to use the seasonal champion mods. I don’t understand why that if bungie wants me to run a SMG I can’t use one I like such as Huckleberry.

I get that the reason we didn't get them was because we got 3 weapons including a raid weapon that most will never have which have intrinsic abilities to stop champions and all that but only 1 has been used by most since then. Divinity. The raid exotic that again, most will never have. Now I'm not saying give these mods to everything like Izanagi's, I think primaries should have them, but not specials. Special weapons just need an overall buff in PvE but that's another matter entirely. For example, let us run this season's auto rifle, Tommy's Matchbook with whatever mod we want. It's already a high risk weapon but if I can run a mod on it, I might actually consider using an exotic that's not Izanagi's or Divinity. Bungie nerfed all Snipers because one was being used over pretty much everything else. They tried taking the incentive to use it rather than giving an incentive to use something different. This idea gives incentives to run plenty of other exotics and if they buff special weapons or otherwise change the enemy sandbox, we could use legendary snipers, fusions or even shotguns, which is exactly what Bungie wanted in the first place.
