So, for the past 3 years, Destiny story has had a problem that might not seem substantial, but means quite a lot in a narration standpoint. It's not as noticeable in Warmind, but it's just disgusting in TTK and RoI, and utterly repulsive in D2 Vanilla and CoO, and could mean a great deal in Forsaken when Cayde dies. I'm talking about our Guardians' voice. Or lack there of. Imagine you're wounded on the floor and your watching Uldren stand over Cayde, point Ace at him and you're just watching and letting your Ghost react while Cayde's Ghost is calling out for help. Imagine bringing over Cayde's lifeless body to Ikora and Zavala, they're mourning the death of their friend, along with your Ghost and you're just standing idle. Imagine facing off Uldren at the end of the road and your Ghost is talking to him, yet he doesn't care about your Ghost. He knows you, he remembers you and he blames you for Mara's death. And you're just standing there with your gun and letting your Ghost talk. Now, I'm not saying you have to have a voice for each race and class, one voice for each is really all it takes. And you don't have to hire some big names to do those voices. Heck, maybe you got some talent in your studio that can carry the emotion. Even getting voice actors you already have in the game do the voice for our Guardian. Anything. You can't tell a good story with your main protagonist is silent and not reacting. And speaking of main protagonist, do you even feel like one anymore? We didn't defeat Ghaul, the Traveler did. We didn't stop Panoptes, Osiris did for the most part. We killed Nokris in an underwhelming battle, but in the end, it was Rasputin's weapon that killed Xol, not our Light. Who wants to bet that by the end of Forsaken, we won't stop Uldren. Mara will. Or Petra. Or Ikora. Or Zavala. In D1, all of the achievements were our own. We were Gods, now we are foot soldiers.
