So I was browsing the forums the other day and came across a post about the Black Spindle mission back in D1, reminiscing on how cool it was and how we want more of these moments in D2. So I was trying to think of a way that something like it might be implemented, and thought I might try to kill two birds with one stone.
So Lost Sectors were one of those mysterious things I had high hopes for in D2. I was somewhat disappointed that they weren't as "mysterious" as I thought they would be. But, they should still server a purpose in the PvE economy of D2, so here is a way I though I might go about making them more interesting.
Once a week, starting on Friday, one random lost sector becomes prestige, and you (are intended to) team up with your friends, and strategize a way to get through it. The difficulty should be Black Spindle level, and there should be a timer, or something to force you to rush through and finish the lost sector within a certain margin of time. Make the Lost Sector a darkness zone, so that running out of time or dying will force you to respawn at the beginning of the lost sector. Now here's the best part.... Each Lost Sector has a specific reward tied to it when it is completed in prestige. "Where might these rewards come from?" you might ask. Well that's another cool idea I had, just port over D1 raid weapons and use them in the loot pool. You don't have to make them have their original perks, just make them similar to their D1 counterparts, for example: Fatebringer drops with dragonfly, Hunger of Crota has cluster bombs, ect.
What do you guys think? I know some people "can't stand" reusing old content, but I think that the premise alone warrants it. If it adds more depth to the PvE looting experience by using under appreciated content, I think it is worth considering. It wouldn't be difficult to do this for Bungie, at least relatively, which I think is why it might be a viable suggestion.

3 Respostasi dig it, here is my input Lost Sector Rework - Lost Sectors Segregated into Rare / Legendary / Exotic Sectors. - The Rarity is determined by Level Cap / and Mini Puzzle Prior to entry. (you collect Sector glyphs) - Lost Sector Demarcation removed. Lost sectors are in fact. LOST. You will find them on the map, like a treasure hunt – killing enemies will drop clues that lead you to scanned objects. These objects give you coordinates. X amount of objects scanned will give you rare / legendary / exotic glyphs. – the more you grind the higher the reward. - Lost Sector Exotic Reward for completing all Lost sectors on a planet. (each planet, has their own unique Exotic linked to Lost Sectors)
