Bungie can now retcon or hand wave the original material away. There goes what made D1 interesting.

Perhaps his heart is in the right place, and he can only do so much, but can Bungie pull through? Will the higher ups call more bad shots? MTX got abused. How will the writing and lore be treated?
Edit 2: Stohl apologizes but doesn’t clarify. More vagueness. Also, despite all the likes, Bungie mods have buried this post to hide the flack they’re getting. Going to repost this.

2 Respostas... and now Bungie has managed to piss off EVERY kind of person that plays. Lol I can't wait for next next pile of word vomit.
-
This is terribly disappointing.
-
Stupid decision after stupid decision. The only hope left for the community is to find out that the management at Bungie is pulling a Joaquin Phoenix and trolling everyone in the gaming community and acting insane for some documentary or something. Otherwise they are just making some of the worst business choices imaginable on a weekly basis.
-
Just another example of the disrespect and contempt they have shown their players since the launch of D2.

2 RespostasEditado por Swiftlock: 1/28/2018 7:24:08 PMMargaret Stohl: Lore Destroyer. With a single tweet, she ruined dozens of fan theories, trivialized the work of D1's writers, and managed to suck the intrigue out of the Destiny experience even more.

2 RespostasSoon on Twitter: "the exo stranger is not cannon, just your guardian hallucinating. Phenomena known to happen for newly 'reborn guardians' whose connection to the light is still 'getting tuned'. In d2, it doesn't appear because your guardian has now a stronger connection to the light. We believe we closed that story arc properly'.

2 RespostasThis isnt just a middle finger to the lore community its a middle finger to THE WHOLE community. More excuses for your teams to keep being lazy and shallow. Do they not realise that with each decision like this you just piss away another section of your once loyal and invested community.

10 RespostasThere goes Byf's job lol. This is quite disheartening. Here I was excited about the raid patch too. Oh well, that didn't last long. When did the comic book industry take over Destiny? Won't be long until we get the 80th reboot and learn that Cayde's parents were killed by gangsters bitten by radioactive spiders. No point in getting attached to "folklore" that can be retconned at any moment.

3 RespostasThe sheer idiocy and incompetence displayed by these morons is impressive. It’s practically inconceivable that an entire group of people can be this stupid and blind to common sense.

5 RespostasEditado por MONKEYGOTRABIES: 1/28/2018 10:45:20 PMThis is just proof that Bungle is so lost in this project that they can't see the forest for the trees. They are incapable of looking at what they've done and recognize what is good and what is bad, what are their strengths and what are their weaknesses. They can't tell what's hateful bitching and what's well thought out criticisim. They can't tell what's whining and what's insight into things that really just don't work. If they look at the lore from D1 and don't see a beautiful, deep, epic world that was unfortunately lost on most players due to the terrible integration that they implemented, then they are truly lost. I have been saying since vanilla Destiny that they should hire a think tank of their most passionate players to give them a set of outside eyes and perspectives. I would have hired people like MyNameisByf and DSRLJoker immediately and without hesitation. A think tank of lore fanatics, solo players, group players, and PvP experts would have helped them tremendously. I think it's too late. Curse of Osiris was by far the worst conceived and worst written piece of Destiny content ever produced, mostly because of the way it shit on both the lore of Osiris and the Vex, but also because it's just objectively a terrible story and a terrible game. You could know nothing about Destiny and you'd come away thinking that Osiris isn't fleshed out at all, Vance is a godawful character, and you spend two and a half hours coming to the conclusion that the Vex aren't much of a threat at all and everything is pretty much inconsequential and totally forgettable. It's just a really bad game by any metric. I think Bungle is totally lost at this point, and I don't think they can tell their asshole from their elbow.

3 RespostasWait wait if I’m reading this right they’ve basically said the lore in D1 isn’t canon? WAIT WHAT
-
4 RespostasI think it was just a poorly worded tweet. She also said that since it was supposed to be written by characters in the universe we have no way of knowing if they are deceiving us or showing bias. I think of it as folklore to the characters in the game, canon to us reading from the outside. Just my opinion though.
-
Just like the fun we had in D1.
-
That’s just stupid. So we’re back to not knowing anything? The original VoG crew? Wtf y tho? Either undo it or you better make some groundbreaking lore.
-
3 RespostasFolkLore is basically the same thing as lore and to there point, since these are all secondary sources it is actually closer to folklore than lore.
-
7 RespostasSo the overreaction gets disproved, and your response is to go full conspiracy theorist with them trying to keep you down? Good grief. This community is dumber every time I log in.

4 RespostasEditado por Kage Verix: 1/29/2018 12:15:45 AMIf you are going to post stuff on the forums can you please put in the effort to make it so we don't have to leave the forums to read everything? It not hard and would be greatly appreciated. See below. mobile.twitter.com/mstohl/status/943269991935229952

@lastliphe How much of the grimoire card lore from #Destiny1 apply to the new comic and game? Do they relate? Is everything canon to the game? Margaret Stohl @mstohl everything in the comics is canon, unless we mess something up. which @ryanqnorth might... but @hellokestrel never does. grimoire is considered folklore, even to the inhabitants of the universe: true as far as they & we know! #destiny2 #bungiecomics #bungie

https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/7tg9ka/according_to_bungie_narrative_director_margaret/?st=JCYEMY0O&sh=2fd04ea3

The way this is phrased - drawing a distinction between the comics (which are said to be canonical) and the Grimoire - makes me think that Bungie (as a matter of policy) is okay with retconning out the existing lore at any time for whatever reason. So, for anyone hoping for a return to D1's lore and/or narrative style, there's that.

https://mobile.twitter.com/cgbarrett/status/957714872560599040

Christopher Barrett @cgbarrett The Grimoire is an important foundation to the lore and world building of Destiny. We need many more stories and tales like it. That’s where we are headed.

If you take all this for what it says then the lore from the grimore is canon. Just because it is "folklore" now doesn't make it not canon. Just means it is a taletold from someone's perspective instead of exactly what happened. Example: Ashen Mir remembering a lake that wasn't actually there.
-
You mean my Ascendant Raisins aren't canon anymore!? Why to drop the ball Bungo!
-
1 ResponderIt's not the devs fault, they made the game how they like it, it's your's, you keep complaining about it, stop it, IT'S JUST A GAME.
-
Oh for -blam!-'s sake, they ARE canon! They were just written from the perspective of in-universe characters. They don't contain the 100% literal truth of what went down, but what happened in them still happened!
-
4 RespostasPeople really need to stop jumping the gun and creating their own interpretations over a quote and then blowing it out of proportion.
-
1 Responder
D1 Grimoire is now “folklore” and not canon.
.....face palm.....first comic book nerds talking about Black Widow something something, now this? These are so so bad, I prefer the #RemoveEververse posts.

Editado por IronGemini: 1/29/2018 8:43:25 PMFolklore still has potential to become cannon, like Star Wars the old republic is not cannon in Star Wars, but a lot of things in SWTOR have been in canon before. Ex: The last few episodes of Star Wars the clone wars.
