Where to start? It's an awful movie with such huge plot holes and stupid writing that I'm utterly shocked. How could they mess this up so bad?
***SPOILERS***
Luke dies. In the most lame way possible. He just dies looking at a sunset on his water planet after projecting a force image of himself on the salt planet to give the Resistance time to escape. (I know, that sounds ridiculous because it is.)
Captain Phasma dies. She catches Finn and Rose and has every opportunity to kill them both with a blaster. But, she ends up fighting Finn in hand to hand combat and loses. That's it. She's dead. She has like 4 lines of dialogue. And she's gone.
Snoke dies. You know, the most powerful force user in the galaxy that was even stronger than the Emperor? How? Kylo uses the force to rotate Rey's lightsaber next to Snoke, turns it on, and cuts him in half. That's it. We still have no idea who Snoke is. What's his backstory? Where is he from? How did he turn Kylo to the dark side? Nothing. Dead. Pointless character.
Leia almost dies. She's in the bridge of a battleship and the bridge gets blown up. She gets sucked into space with no protection and somehow survives extreme cold and intense pressure from space. She then uses the force (since when can she do this) to pull herself back to the ship and gets brought back on. So, Leia can somehow use the force and survives in the dead of space with zero protection.
Commander Holdo, a random rebel leader that takes charge after Leia is in a coma from being in space, is pointless and stupid. She acts like a villain and doesn't tell Po about her plan to evacuate the ship and run away. Why? Who knows? But, because of her lying to Po, Finn and a new character Rose go on a side quest.
Finn and Rose go on a side quest in the middle of the movie. Keep in mind, this movie's story takes place over a few hours. Finn and Rose have to find a code breaker to get them inside Snoke's ship so they can disable a device that can track ships out of hyperspace. So, they go to a casino world that feels so ham-fisted into the plot. Pointless drivel. They find a code breaker guy that they hire to get them inside Snoke's ship, but he ends up betraying them (surprise surprise.)
Other stupid things:
-Rey's parents are nobody junkers that sell her for money and are dead. That's it. No special reveal. Nothing.
-Where are the Knights of Ren? You know, all of the former force users that trained under Luke and went with Kylo to join the First Order? Nothing.
-How did Captain Phasma escape Starkiller base? She was thrown into a trash compactor.
-How did the First Order conquer so much of the galaxy? They blew up like 5 planets with Starkiller. There are thousands of planets in the galaxy. Only 5 were part of the New Republic?
That's not even everything. Holy crap. This movie was a mess. Never been so disappointed in a Star Wars film. Absolute garbage. I don't know how J.J. Abrams is gonna fix this in Episode 9. I think it is beyond saving.

Literally the only way I could possibly enjoy the movie is if I believe everything we were told is deceptive and meant to throw you off for some big reveal later.

I tapped out before reading spoilers. Tell me about it w/o the spoilers.

It just felt very choppy to me. They tried to force invest Rose using sympathy which didn't work very well to me. Finn has very few redeeming qualities carrying over from the last movie, and overall it felt too fanservicy for me. But I'm not exactly a Star Wars fan so maybe I'm ignorant.

7 RespostasEditado por Just Dan: 12/18/2017 10:52:24 PM
Luke dies.
Not really. He "becomes the Force" and as it was shown with Yoda, they're more powerful than your typical "force wielder".
Snoke dies.
The same was said about Darth Maul and he returned. I don't think Snoke's story arc is over.
Where are the Knights of Ren?
Hasn't been covered yet and I expect EP IX will give more insight.
Rey's parents are nobody junkers that sell her for money and are dead
Perfect storytelling, IMO. Anakin had no father and his mother was a nobody as well.

I’m not sure if it was the worst or best, but it was the most bizarre.

1 ResponderI wonder if people bitched this much about The Emperor in the original trilogy like people are with Snoke. If I remember right Palpatine hardly gets any screen time throughout the original trilogy and dies in kind of a lame way by today's standards. I don't remember there being any huge fleshed out backstory for him either in the original trilogy, that all came with the prequels that half the fan base gives too much shit to. Hell the only back story we have with Vader is that he is Lukes father. That's it. At least with Snoke he actually had a good amount of screen time. As well as some good chances to see him use his abilities. So does Kylo. Hell, his death was even more satisfying than the former.

ITS DISNEY! Everyone with a brain knew from the force awakens Disney was going to turn this amazing franchise to shit! Rey (aka female power) sucks. Finn ( Aka token) sucks and the plot is just a damn cliche! I hate sjw shit taking over today's pop culture.

2 RespostasYou forgot that Yoda is actually a sock puppet.

4 RespostasLuke was looking at the twin suns, just like he did back in A New Hope. It was perfect imagery that connected both films in this moment. I think Luke felt at peace here and decided it was time to become one with the Force.
-
Can't deny it was better than the prequels
-
4 RespostasI'm not picky about it. As long as there's good acting and a plot twist or two, then I'm fine. The only thing I didn't like was when Leia somehow floated back into the ship. That was odd.
-
I thought it was the best Star Wars movie yet.

4 RespostasTo much comedy. I understand some, but it felt like they tried to hard to make jokes.
-
They explain how phasma survived in the comic and after reading the boom she probably survived this episode also as her main thing is she is a survivor. Also snoke is probably still alive in some way or at leas they will explain him as the next episodes cover name is “black diamond.” Which snoke has a black diamond ring from Vader’s castle
-
It was much better than episode 7
-
Han Solo dies
-
The Last Jar Jar
-
Snoke says that Kylo is the last of the knights of Ren implying that they’re all dead except for him

1 ResponderLiterally half your points are you salty that your theory’s didn’t work
-
3 RespostasEh, it was better than TFA, but there were some dumb moments in TLJ I'm more upset about Rey being literally god and the FO being about as competent as a group whose members consist of two people named Jesse and James along with their pet cat The Leia part was also annoying. Her dying would not have had much consequence to the rest of the story... They could have at least had a ship go out and retrieve her body where she "magically" gets better on board. But I guess she's somehow powerful enough to use the force while unconscious.
-
You’re so wrong I want to die.
-
10 RespostasButchered is putting it lightly
-
1 ResponderWhat exactly were you expecting about her parents? Oh, is this a "I had a theory that was wrong and now i'm salty about it" scenario? The entire series is full of plot holes. I'm more concerned about future CG Leia than anything else.

The worst movie I have ever had the displeasure of watching

4 RespostasEditado por Strider: 12/18/2017 5:14:03 AMHuh, I loved the movie. Definitely one of my favorite (If not my favorite) Star Wars movie. I’ll be honest. I got a little triggered when you said it might be the worst Star Wars movie, so below is my semi-rant if you care to read it.
Luke “becoming one with the force” doesn’t surprise me. Yoda and Obi-wan did the same thing. They could have killed him off in a cool way, but I see why they didn’t. Captain Phasma was just there to fill the role of Boba Fett. The role being, look super cool in the background, I don’t know why you expected her to do a whole lot. Snoke dying was my favorite part of the movie. I did not expect it at all and it was followed by an awesome fight. Honestly, for me, that plot twist took the movie from great, to awesome. Plus (as far as I know) Palestine’s backstory wasn’t explained in the movies either. So why would they explain Snoke’s? I agree with Leia. It was stupid and unecessary. If she died this would be my favorite Star Wars movie. Commander Holdo not telling anyone about her plan was also stupid. At least she went out with a bang though. Fin and Rose’s side quest thing was meh, but not terrible. I think it is cool that Rey has lame parents. Not all the Jedi need to be related to well known heroes. The Knights of Ren wouldn’t have served much of a purpose if they were in the movie. I bet we will see more of them in Episode 9 since Kylo is the Supreme leader now. Once again Phasma is just there to fill Boba Fetts role. As for the First Order taking over everything, I’d assume that the republic was the only other power in the galaxy. And since the empire only fell like 50 years ago, I don’t think that is enough time to build a large republic consisting of multiple systems.
Anyways, I loved the movie. If you don’t, that’s cool.

7 RespostasEditado por CAD1420Z: 12/18/2017 10:54:01 PMWhy does everyone hate on Leia using the Force to survive in space and get back to the ship? Shouldn't you people be ecstatic that Leia confirmed her strength in the force by using the incredibly difficult Breath Control force ability from legends, now made canon? And being able to bring herself back to the ship? I mean come on! That's awesome! As for Phasma, she had a novel and at least a run of comics dedicated to that exact story about the trash compactor escape on Starkiller and her origins. And about the New Republic being destroyed, that was the capitol system that was destroyed. Hosnian Prime, as named in TFA. It wasn't the whole New Republic, just a significant chunk of it. It was a huge act of terror, showing the New Republic as vulnerable, and unable to do anything in the face of the First Order. Helps explain why the distress signal on Crait didn't get a single reply, no? And one more thing! THESE EVENTS ARE HAPPENING 30 YEARS AFTER RETURN OF THE JEDI! WHY THE -blam!- ARE SOME THINGS SUPPOSEDLY OUT OF CHARACTER, OR SOMEHOW IMPOSSIBLE DESPITE A HUGE CHUNK OF TIME HAVING PASSED?! GAH! Sorry, but every goddamn time I see people complain about something like "How the hell did LEIA get force training?! she never had that!!!11!!11!!1!" I feel my soul ache at human stupidity over things that have been previously explained as possible and the time gap not being taken into account. Literally ANYTHING could have happened in those 30 years. I mean, -blam!- people, come ON and THINK. If someone tries to turn that last sentence around on me, I will be thoroughly unimpressed.
One last thing in my edit, I have one gripe about the new movies so far. This goes for both, by the way. In star wars canon, and yes they have made it canon, hyperdrives can't function when getting close enough to a gravity well, so they revert back to normal speed. How the HELL did the Millennium Falcon drop out of lightspeed IN ATMOSPHERE of Starkiller base? The deceleration combined with the sudden reentry friction should have ripped it apart and splattered the occupants across the ground. But it's magically hunky-dory and everything proceeds from there after the "harrowing" stop. Then fast-forward to TLJ, and we MAGICALLY have this scenario of a planet's gravity well causing hyperspace interference. And it actually sticks. WHERE IS THE CONSISTENCY IN REGARDS TO THIS?! ARGH!!!
