Not likely. It never worked before. Keeps giving old gear. Best is to get the cryptarc close to the next level and then wait till the update is released before ranking up. That's a guarantee for new gear.

I've done that with every expansion. Get to like a tick of getting a package, save some bounties then turn them in right when it launched and collected new rewards

It worked after the first wave of Y1 new exotics were released

That's the only time tho.....it's never worked with a real update, where new content & max levels are released.

What makes this time different is its not a new DLC like TBD and HoW, and is just am update. But you're right about light levels. Either way I already got all the exotics so I'm holding onto mine for good measure

Yeah, this update is certainly unique.....so maybe it will work, maybe not.....maybe bungie has changed the way it works. I was responding to the guy who said that his saved engrams had always decrypted into the post patch gear......which is just a lie. And yeah, this isn't the same as a paid dlc, but there are new missions, and a new max level.........and every time that kind of update has been made, the saved engrams have decrypted into gear available at the time they were aquired.

It did work before coz ive done it everytime including when the taken king dropped i decrypted an exotic helmet engram after ttk dropped that i had saved and it turned in2 graviton forfeit my brother had all the taken king exotics the 1st day ttk dropped from saved exotics
