This is the most vicious, misanthropic community I have ever been witness too.
Why is everyone so disrespectful and downright hateful toward each other on these forums? In game, I never run into people as vitriolic as I see here. We all have at least one thing in common, probably more. Why are so many of you so cruel to you each other? Is being a repugnant little brat cool these days? Are you so emotionally battered yourselves that you percieve everyone as an enemy? I just don't understand. To quote a man most of you have never heard of, can't we all just get along?

People that actually enjoy the game and share useful information generally do so IN THE GAME. For the most part, on this forum resides the trolls without any in game friends to discuss things with/ask for help. Normal people exist you'll just have to hope to get randomly matched with some or find them on LFG. Abandon all hope, ye who enter the bungie.net forums searching for civility or useful information.

I find the people I'm most likely to interact with in the game are PvE players, whereas those who tend to be nasty to others on the forums are the PvP players. That's not unique to Destiny. The games with notoriously mean-spirited communities (e.g. League of Legends) all tend to be oriented towards competition. Take those posts for what they are: competitors trash talking before (and during, and after) a match.

Bungee team are amazing. They have done a great job. Except for his inability to understand and separate PvP and PvE. They can not or will not split these issues. While things remain as they are, this community will only have one thing in common: Permanent hate. PS: Oppps, sorry, I almost forgot: F **** and ***** ALL noobs...

There've always been a decent faction of jerk offs around here. This is the worst I've seen it, though. I understand frustration with the game. I share some of their complaints. These people are savages, though.

I try to ignore all off the toxicity as much as possible. I do enjoy combing through to look for the good and silver linings in these forums though, as I do love to converse with enjoyable guardians, whether they're new or are saying how much they love something, etc... Just try to ignore it and enjoy the light-hearted side of the community, guardian!

See this is what happens when developers like Bungie mess up the game. I mean really. Have you noticed other games? When people enjoy the game there much less toxicity on the forums.
