Today the new weekly update came out and it shared some of the thoughts behind bans and restrictions. I don't know about everyone else but to me their thought process is very flawed.
Bungie refuses to add optional matchmaking and instead tells players to recruit random ppl on the forums or on lfg websites. Players have to go out of their way and randomly find ppl with only the other persons word they don't cheat. Bungie openly admitted today that innocent ppl can be caught up in the bans/restrictions unjustly just because that player had to find a random group elsewhere. Since u cannot argue against any action bungie takes players can't defend themselves. Players have no choice but to look for random ppl and can't judge their teams fairly who knows the person may just have bad connection randomly.
My other issue with the update is bungie openly admitting that having a bad connection can get u restricted. Sure they say only consistent issues will result in a restricted but this is still wrong to punish someone for their connection issues. I've played with ppl around the world and in many cases they have bad connection to me because of it that's not their fault. Of course this has a negative affect on other players ik I've played against bad connection but it's still not right to ban the player for it. Bungie decided to not have dedicated servers like many other games already have to then punish the player because they lag and effect others doesn't seem right.
Tldr: bungie bans innocent players because they failed to offer basic support for their own game like optional matchmaking or dedicated servers.

Completely agree. Dedicated Servers would help a lot.
-
That's what I've been trying to say for months. I get nothing but hate mail out the ass.
-
I have satellite internet because of where I live I can play any mode except crucible, so right there I can't enjoy the full game so bungie going to ban me after all my hours of play and money I spent on the game? That's bull
-
Im glad im tired of playing people who obviously are stealing wifi from 5 houses down the street. The don't deserve to ruin the experience of people who actually have internet capable of online gaming.
-
Australia has poor connection to games as we are so far away. It's really unfair. Hence why I don't play pvp in Destiny it's an extremely poor experience. And no having a red connection does not give me an advantage as I suffer up to 1-2 second delays. Dedicated servers make a world of difference.

12 RespostasOr from now on all online multiplayer games come with a tos thst has in it this line. If you are using Romanian dialup Internet then you will be booted. It's amazing that lagging gives you the advantage. Red bar of death kills me more then anything.
-
4 RespostasDedicated servers don't fix lag. I don't know how this asinine, hivemind-esque belief was ever started, but it needs to end. If a person has a shit connection, guess what? They'll still have a shit connection to the server.

7 RespostasIt's pretty sad that bungie can't tell the difference between a bad connection and someone cheating. A bad connection SHOULD NOT result in a ban or restriction of any kind. I'd think bungie could have software that detects minimum connection speed/type and then won't allow connection to those with marginal links. My buddy recently had an issue with his router that resulted in both he and I red-baring for a short time, since we were in a fireteam. He had to buy a replacement, But it would be totally wrong for bungie to ban either of us for a tech issue.

2 RespostasEditado por Bilby93: 8/14/2015 12:24:42 AMYou need to sub out the word ban for restriction .. Otherwise an interesting and good post ... Ban is permanent ... Restriction is temporary .... And if you get caught up they stated you may get restricted as well. They also stated they would "restrict" not ban people with maccas wifi (obviously not in those exact words haha) ... Good in my opinion lol ...

1 ResponderI agree, up until 5 weeks ago I had shitty internet which happened to be the best internet I could get at my house at the time. Luckily there were enough people on my street that they decided to make another line down my road (I live in the country, aka a corn peninsula). I don't see why I should be banned if I say "Hey, my internet has been working good today! I should try to play a crucible match." And then randomly my internet starts to slow down a little and I get reported and eventually banned.

Editado por A_rodEmpyre: 8/14/2015 1:48:59 AMI agree. Bungie said they restrict players with poor internet then remove. CONNECTION RECOVERY SYSTEM
-
I agree I would love to do trials but every time I find a team I wonder if they hackif they do good in a game I love destiny and don't want banned because of others
-
Bump. You bring some good evidence to the table. Someone better reply from bungie.

9 RespostasIf your boo boo connection is giving you an advantage over people with good connection, you should be booted out of the game or banned until you sort your connection issues. By sort, I mean stop trying to connect to your neighbor open wifi, stop using your cell phone as a hot spot, or contact your Internet provider and boost your download and upload speed. Why are you trying to game with a 1.5 mbps Internet speed?

2 Respostas
I've played with ppl around the world and in many cases they have bad connection to me because of it that's not their fault.
There is a big difference between having a bad connection based on getting connected with someone on the other side of the planet, and a player who has a bad connection to everyone, I am pretty sure the system will be able to distinguish between the two.
-
I agree with this. Its been far to long these slow internet users being unkillable and having a complete advantage overall. If your connection is that bad all the time it should put you into a restricted lobby, in which it is all players with internet like that. Thats best case scenario. Worst case is a temp ban for a week til they sort it out. Call your provider and see if they can upgrade it or if maybe something is out of date.

3 Respostas"Hmm, I just joined up with these guys from LFG and every time we are down in Trials, someone on the winning team just quits......seems legit."
-
"Everybody in here is innocent. Didn't you know that?"
-
4 RespostasHave you been banned? If not shut up because obviously it's not that apparent to having shitty internet with other players.
-
Editado por NoNameLikeIt: 8/14/2015 1:16:03 AMI have recently started going for grimiore, and have to say alot of players connection is gaming breaking. Half the players i go against seem to be immune to damage until they decide not to be, which is usually after they have managed to kill three people with a shotgun after countless shots from them.

1 ResponderThey are encouraging teamwork and chemistry from playing with people you already know by not including matchmaking

4 RespostasThey said that in rare cases where Internet connection is repeatedly very weak, a temporary restriction of the activity will be placed, until Internet connection improves. Towards your other point about being innocently caught in the net with cheaters in your team, think of it like this: If you really were innocent, you would have kicked/ditched the cheater as soon as you discovered he or she was cheating. You can't tell me you played 8+ games with an LFG'd guy and didn't notice he was a cheater, who somehow never took any damage, or the other team always mysteriously left the game when they had the lead. Lastly, the security team clarified that they keep track of consistent irregular statistics, check player reports related to these activities, and then closely monitor the player, and only then they issue a ban/restriction. Therefore playing one or two games unknowingly with a cheater won't net you a ban, but when they see you play every Friday with this guy, you're getting the hammer too.
-
That does make sense. Would suck to get paired up with a cheater from lfg and not know it and get caught in the gravitational pull of their ban.
-
2 Respostasmatchmaking in trials would be terrible yes you could play but you would lose 9 times out of 10 with randoms on your team
-
2 RespostasThey start with temporary restrictions not bans. I am sure they will look at length of time that you played with the individual. A few matches in and it should be clear to you if something shady is going on. I have played with gamers halfway across the world with no issues. The few times there was problems it wasn't extreme. They made it clear that isn't what they are looking for.
