There are some things that Destiny does exceptionally well.
-it's visionary; Destiny offers players the experience of being swept up into a fantasy unlike any other
-it's a work of art; Destiny is an example of high craftsmanship, and that's so valuable in a time when so many companies put profits and personal ambitions over artistic integrity
-it's uncompromisingly ethical; Destiny seems to have been designed with an incredibly thoughtful goal in mind. Bungie employees have spoken about how they expected players to play no more than 30 minutes a day. Perhaps this is a bit of a stretch on my part, but I believe this is an example of a massively successful game company realizing just how time consuming and addictive videogames can become, and designing a game to integrate more healthily into the consumers life. More people should take notice of just how laudable that is; if it's the case.
-it's designed to bring you out of your shell; Destiny is inherently more fun when it's social. The game virtually demands that you play with other people and make friends. The lack of matchmaking for many activities draws players to LFG groups and encourages socialization. This is, as I mentioned above, part of how Destiny is an uncompromisingly ethical game. Bungie should not add matchmaking to endgame activities.
-it's teaching us; Destiny, also as I said before, is an example of masterful craftsmanship. The themes, motifs, stories, histories, characters, settings, and gameplay systems all add up to communicate to the player. Playing Destiny has taught me something new. I think part of the fun of the game is learning the lesson for yourself, then pointing others in the direction of the mystery.
-it's a platform for personal expression and creativity; Destiny allows you to be who and what you want to be within the context of its world. That freedom is valuable and enjoyable
-it presents a world I want to be in, and it make the real world a world I want to be in too; I am excited and curious to see where Destiny goes in the future. Not only is the world in Destiny spiritually satisfying in the way that Star Wars and Lord of the Rings are satisfying, but that fact is one more reason that motivates me to keep grinding in my real life. I think that's a good thing.
I think Destiny is a good game.
hire me as a co-community manager Bungie? lol don't hate; it's worth asking :|
Editado por ParasiticFilth: 7/14/2015 12:57:48 PMAwesome word salad, once I realized that this was a sarcastic post. The whole function of a PR spokesperson is to lie continuously. If the sky is blue, the objective is to convincingly tell the audience that it's in fact actually red.

The concept for the game is very good, is it a great game? No, average at best and I have been playing games for many years so my comment isn't just hate for the game. Bungie need to take off their blinkers and look around, Halo 5, the new Gears of war, ESO, Witcher 3 these are just some of the games Destiny has to compete with, and tbh I don't think it can, not unless Bungie starts listening to the sensible posts on these forums, yes there are some, just my thoughts on it

5 RespostasIts really is a great game. It still has its flaws but people now a days are really anti social. Plus they whine so much its not funny

3 RespostasOh yeah, it's ethical. A game design that purposefully exploits addictive tendencies in people to chase after that end game loot but never get it with a horrendous RNG system. That narrative loses its appeal after about the 3rd time you've seen the same useless cut scene (which you're unable to skip). Get lost in the same area you've rode by for the millionth time only to pay for "DLC" to run a strike in that same area...only now you get to play it backwards. Yes! Score! Social? Only if you have friends. Want to talk to people in-game? Have to be in the same area and deal with people just following you around. No where in this grand "social arena" can you look for people running raids, needing help with Trials of Osiris, or with PoE. It's all OFF SITE. Brilliant idea, STOP playing the game to go find people to play your end game content..your main part of the game...that you advertised so heavily...the -blam!-?! I cannot see how this is not a satire post.

10 RespostasI agree with a lot of what you said, but I'd take issue with 2 main points. 1. Destiny is definitely not set up to be played a half hour a day. If it were, everything would be on a currency exchange system, rather than a RNG grind-fest system. The whole premise is illogical . No product is marketed to be used as infrequently as possible, quite the opposite. 2. Destiny is not set up to make friends and be social at all. It's actually mind blowing to me that you think it is. It has by far the worst social integration and matchmaking tools I've ever seen on a MMO or social game. Not to mention no chat channel. Yes there are LFG sites, no that's not as good as in game chat or in game matchmaking.
-
It was a great idea for a game but Bungie's execution of it wasn't very good at all in my opinion. I'm a competitive player and I was disappointed to find out that Destiny is not a competitive game and it won't be in the future. For now I'm just waiting until Halo 5 comes out as I'm sure many others are. October 27 is going to be a rough day for Destiny lmao.

1 ResponderLol -it's visionary; Destiny offers players the experience of being swept up into a fantasy unlike any other dude... have you played mass effect? or any elder scrolls game? you are technically right, most companies don't restrict themselves to planets inside our own solar system... they actually MAKE a fantasy world. -it's a work of art; Destiny is an example of high craftsmanship, and that's so valuable in a time when so many companies put profits and personal ambitions over artistic integrity All the guns look the same. There is no differentiation between faction weapons or weapon manufacturers. Different in the taken king, but thats not out yet. Not to mention the armor. You would think that the armor would look cool in a sci-fi game, but instead its just not detailed. It looks like the rushed the concept. No thought was put into differentiating the armor. Sparrows all look alike, and there are really only 5 types of ships. There is no player customization, and really, no real options at full customization in any aspect. Its a disappointment. They sacrificed so much and delivered so little in terms of story. Skyrim was a game I could play for 30 minutes a day. Or 18 hours a day. And I never had to do anything twice. If I played for 30 minutes a day, then I would be done with everything but trials and skolas by thursday. And the only reason I wouldn't have killed skolas is because there are no checkpoints. I find it hard to find enjoyment from shooting sub level 20s on patrol as a level 34. I'm hoping this is satire. LFG sites make about as much sense as an external grimoire. The key to success in the visual medium is complete immersion. You never get that with destiny. What about people that don't have smartphones? I don't have one, so I can't use that for LFG. If I didn't have a computer, then I would be excluded. My only other option would be to literally download the IE app on my xbox, run LFG on that, log back onto the game, and then continue. Anything that is outside the game retracts from the game. Its bad designing and a good way to make your game fail. The only thing I learned from destiny is to not buy DLC heavy AAA games. Its a waste of money when I can put that same cost into 2 or even 3 new games depending on what final cost you want to tally. The story from the grimoire is fantastic. Its also the story we lost due to 'big egos'. The fractured shell of that story is what we have now, and if people don't read the backstory online, its like reading a book written by a child. Do this because we tell you. No reasons have to be given. No missions have to connect. -it's a platform for personal expression and creativity; Destiny allows you to be who and what you want to be within the context of its world. That freedom is valuable and enjoyable The least they can do is let me customize my guardian like I want. I don't want to be pink. Or blue. Or red. Thats halo shit. I want to be camouflaged. And there are 6 different forms of camouflage from all the content combined. Allow us to make our own shaders so we can be unique. Allow us to forge our own armor to look original. A simple interface would allow for that so people with minimal artistic skill can make the most awesome armor in the game. TTK allows armor reforging, so thats not an issue. But there is no originality among players because all the content looks the same. The world of destiny is weak. There is no real content to explore. Its just linear pathways to get from objective to objective. To compare it to lord of the rings is laughable. To compare it to star wars is accurate. The parallels make me wonder how bungie wasn't sued for plagiarism.

1 ResponderWhere's the #satire?

1 ResponderI thought this was satirical... Honestly, I don't think Bungie is interested in someone apparently oblivious to their goals, values, priorities, and motivations. I'm pretty sure the opposite of everything you said is true, and you would do better to offer them a steady supply of antidepressants.

5 RespostasYou sound exactly like a person who dont understand videogames, but tries to sell them anyways.
im looking at you Activision
30 minutes a day? That's the time it takes to load in the tower collect bounties then get to the destination for the bounty, no progress towards the bounty can be achieved
-
2 RespostasIt's a great concept. Gunplay is excellent. Vista ( or should I say Patrol Destination) level design is great. Class balance and skill trees are great. Destiny's universe itself is interesting and filled with interesting lore. Everything Else Sucks!

So this is not sarcastic? Wow....

2 RespostasEditado por Ogma: Destroyer of Worlds: 7/13/2015 9:04:48 PMIt's an ok game that is held back by inconsistencies, odd limitations and restrictions, an inability to lockdown a currency/upgrade system, and a lack of post story variance. It's ok. There are some simple changes/additions that could make it good, but it is not great.

1 ResponderAgreed...and its one of the most immersive games I've ever played. Especially where FPSs are concerned. But lets be frank as well. Bungie showed a great deal of courage in stepping out and making this game, when it could have been very comfortable in cranking out Halo sequels from now until whenever. But the flipside of that courage is Bungie's clear inexperience with persistent-world games, and with (Action) RPGs. Inexperience that shows in the problems Bungie has created in trying to bring many FPS conventions where "progression" is concerned to an MMO-RPG like persistent world. Many of them are not working...and are the source of a LOT of the frustration that many playes have with the game. In that there is a serious disconnect between rate of progression...and time invested in the game. However, Bungie didn't get to where it is in this business by being either lazy or stupid. They are quickly learning from their mistakes. The first being having originally designed this game to be the FPS-gamer's RPG....and only to realize that a fan base that wanted the game to be the MMO-RPG gamer's SHOOTER largely showed up to play it. They are literally having to re-envision this game, and re-craft it on the fly. ..and (all things considered) they are doing a pretty respectable job of it.
-
No problem with enjoying the game , I do too .....and it does a lot of things very well.....the problem is the the things that are wrong with it.....and they are big things and the reason why there is so much toxicity in the forums......is because Bungie won't come out and talk about it and admit their mistakes. Instead they keep preaching about how great everything is and Deej keeps talking about everything else except what the community is asking for.....so for you to come on and point out all the things that are good about the game and not touch anything that is wrong with it......we already have that in Deej.....I mean no disrespect.

25 RespostasEditado por King Cabb: 7/13/2015 4:53:00 PMYou seemed okay until I read that spoiler. Kissass. Downvote. You just made up a bunch of garbage to get you a job lol. Even Bungie can see that.

Editado por Blankman007: 7/13/2015 4:51:01 PMDestiny is good gun mechanics and good (vanilla) gun design surrounded by a poor game made by lazy designers more concerned with hyping the next expansion than delivering a good game.

It has so much potential, with so many fundamental flaws. Hopefully they're just nursing this first installment along, and totally re-tooling the 2nd installment to get it right, starting with the total separation between PVP & PVE.
