Matchmaking for everything sounds like a great idea on paper. However in practice, it would be a disaster for the majority of end game activities. Here are some things to consider: 1. NOBODY communicates in matchmade games. I have played over 400 hours of destiny and I have come across 3 people who used their mics in matchmade games. 2. Raids need leadership. Someone needs to make decisions and delegate tasks. You won't get this in matchmade teams. 3. 20% of the destiny community has beaten a raid. The first ever VOG completion with some of the best teams in the world took about 16 hours. So on average there would be 1 player in every team of 6 who knew what they were doing. Have fun with that. 4. No option to boot people. Add this with people not using their mic's and not knowing what to do, and you are going to have a rough time. Get to the bridge at crota and someone just stands on the bridge plate the entire time causing the totems to activate, even when his team had already crossed and causes a wipe? Well, in all likelihood hes not using his mic either and will wipe the team as he doesn't know what hes doing wrong. Good luck explaining the presence of crota debuf and not to die because they will summon the over-soul. Good luck co coordinating a team to fire on crota at the right time as well. If you get to gorgons, good luck explaining that everyone should stick together and not double jump, and that this is a stealth section to players who haven't done it before. Try explaining that they need to hold the venus portal open, and once you get the relic that someone needs to go and defend the central conflux. Try explaining that people should beak out of detainment before shooting rocket launchers at the templar. Try explaining that they will need to bunch up around the relic holder to cleanse. You can't. People don't communicate in matchmade games. There are no objective markers in raids that tell you what to do. Good luck doing a raid with 5 people who don't communicate, and statistically 1 in 5 of them actually know what they are doing. Now you read all of what I have said, and you can still say 'well, give us the option'. 99.9% of raids would fail. We know, from looking at Skolas, Valus & the dust palace that if something has a large quit/fail rate, it gets nerfed. What Bungie would end up doing, is having to dumb down the raids, considerably, for them to be a viable activity for matchmaking. Perhaps they should do what they did for the POE and release a match-made version that is incredibly easy (and boring) that introduces players to the mechanics. Now I am NOT a member of a raiding clan. I use LFG for the Vast majority of raids and POE games I play. And I have completed VOG 35 times, and CE 45 times. LFG is NOT the elitist cesspool that people make it out to be. Yes, there are morons who don't know that there is no level advantage in destiny and request level 34's with 365 Gjallarhorns for the VOG on normal. However there are the VAST minority. I will basically take anyone through a raid for the first time as long as they are of a reasonable level. (27 for VOG normal but I will happily carry 24's, 29 for Hard. 30 For CE, 31 for hard) The key point is as long as they communicate, they will be ok as long as the rest of the team knows what they are doing. I have soloed CE, so will happily take through players for their first time, even if they are the only one in my team: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nScufjMBQbo I will also take through new players on hard mode, even if I have to do 99% of the work myself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vte-imRS6uQ NONE of that would be possible if they didn't communicate, and follow my lead though.
