Can Whales Be Evil?

I just finished watching the 2 seasons of Star Trek: Prodigy' and in one of the episodes the crew travels to the mirror universe (if you know, you know; if not, it's easy to look up) and in it, there was an evil whale on the ship. This raised a few questions for me: 1. Why the hell was there a whale on a Federation starship to begin with? 2. Title: Can whales be evil? The first question, I've managed to find an answer for-Cetacean Ops. Yep, that's apparently a thing in Star Trek canon. Since whales and other highly intelligent sea life are innately skilled at maneuvering in a 3-dimensional space (underwater), certain class starships have Cetacean Ops with, well, whales and stuff to aid in ship navigation; more likely than not alien species I imagine but I can't say for sure. The other question I can't land on any definitive answer. Sure, some people believe orcas can be evil and perhaps even cruel, but I think they just do what they do. Brutal and aggressive maybe but evil just seems a stretch. So, I have to wonder, in an alternate verse where beings are inherently evil, can that actually include whales? This is a stupid thought I had so I completely understand if this post gets ignored but I'd be curious to know if anyone bored enough to read through it has any perspective on the matter.

No, they’re not evil. They kill to survive, just like, for example, my ancestors the Aurignacians once hunted deer in the plains of Europe. It’s simply ecology, contributing to a complex marine community and a food chain within a wider environmental food web which needs killer whales and the things they eat to sustain balanced populations. It would be “evil” if a killer whale formed the intelligent complexities of the “emotional response” and killed animals for callous reasons beyond survival and sustaining an ecosystem. Some orcas have been known to “bully” other marine life, but it’s often a way of practicing hunting, so is another factor contributing to their need to effectively hunt, and survive.
