Snipers in general are too powerful, mostly due to ease of use. Hopefully the nerfs will address this somewhat. I think Cloudstrike is important in the sandbox as a tool to punish teams who group up too much but it can be incredibly frustrating to die to.

Nah they are not too powerful at all. Fusions and shotguns are too powerful

Editado por AppleSoda: 3/3/2024 10:22:51 PMDepends on your rank, but a single good sniper at higher ELOs can completely control an entire game. Even a relatively bad sniper puts incredible positional pressure on you as the risk of getting shot isn’t worth taking, especially when it’s fairly easy to hit shots in this game. Depending on the map, there is little to no outplay potential, as many points lie in the center of sniper lanes or are otherwise easily contestable by a sniper. Having a good sniper on your team vs a team without one in an otherwise even match will almost always result in the team with a sniper winning. Essentially, the only reliable counter to a good sniper is to be a better sniper. You have little agency in countering a sniper as an individual as no matter what range you approach at there is always a non-zero chance you get instantly killed. A fusion or a shotgun do not put in anywhere near that amount of pressure or get that much value merely by equipping. This is because those weapons require you to have overall tighter and more mastered movement and positional skills (I.e. skill beyond simply just using the weapon) and can be countered by the enemy being aware of your efforts to close the gap or charge your weapon. They have much lower skill floors, yes, but the weapons themselves fail to be anywhere near as oppressive and restrictive to the enemy as a sniper. Really, I don’t think this is obvious at most ranks of play but it becomes very apparent in top level play, especially if you play console (which thankfully I do not anymore). There is, of course, value in having a shotgun/fusion on your team at higher levels of play too as it allows your team to play (more consistently) aggressively when necessary. But in terms of who is controlling the flow of the game: it’s snipers and it’s not even close. Snipers get the initial kill, then your aggressive players clean up the round. Your sniper effectively dictates how the round goes. This is how a solid 40-50% of rounds go for me.

A single good player can completely control the match, the weapon doesn’t matter

Yes any player can control a match if they’re significantly better than their competition. When I say a good sniper I mean compared to the player base and not compared to the people in a match. The sniper can be on par or barely better than the people in the lobby and completely control the flow of the match. For a person using a shotgun or fusion to enact the same effect they have to be much much better than the other players in the lobby.
