Fun fact about LFG

Yesterday I joined a team asking KWTD no BS for Crota’s End, so I thought it would be a fast run. We wiped several times and people left and I got kicked at lanterns(I have to admit, I died a few times to sword lunge into cursed thrall) Ok, so I join another group says Willing to Teach. Fine, at least they won’t quit. It went super smooth, much more so than the previous team, and it was one person’s first time. So the moral of the story, people willing to teach are better players than those who want kwtd checking RR or kick.

One time in D1, I joined an LFG checkpoint for King's Fall Warpriest that said "KWTD or kick." It turns out it was 5 squeaky-voiced children who had zero idea what to do (or ZIWTD). After humoring them for a few minutes, I asked, "Do you guys actually want to finish this or not?" Then I took over as a fair but direct teacher, assigning tasks, etc. And by golly, after 5-6 tries, we actually beat it. Then they all had to go to bed before we could do Golgoroth. The moral is, teaching groups are better than KWTD, and people shouldn't be afraid to start or join them.

  • People willing to teach are confident in their knowledge and skill, 5herefore are better at raids than those looking to just do it, and this also lends skill to the trainees, making them better as well.

    • It's cause the ones that are willing to teach know that running it to fast not only hinders learning but will -blam!- up the players. The ones that post kwtd are the ones wanting to run it as fast as possible which leads to mistakes.

      • LFG can goes in different ways I havent used it in a while but I have many story about it and understanding about it Lot of the time I see peoples posting about getting kicked at the end is often because they were a problematic player and they will exaggerate how useful they were ...back when cross play wasn't a thing peoples would message others and reform without the problem player most of the time peoples wanting quick run and saying KWTD are looking for carries ...especially if are asking for a specific class...I remember this group I join on the final boss of GoS having this crazy strategy of never building back platforms and just chain well behind the rock in front if the boss ....they never completed it cause they would die in the teleport zone .... For KWTD post and quick run I would 100% look at the poster history Also this goes both way .... I often see peoples in the forum being mad at getting kicked because they joined a KWTD run with no clear and experiences but watched 1 video .... LFG can be a lot of thing ...back in D1 that's how I met my 1st clan

      • My only red flag that I recommended watching out for, if the Host says KWTD and they call add clear or an easy job, look for another group. Aside from that, there are plenty of LFG's, I encourage you to not waste your time on people who seem toxic and feel free to cherry pick. LFG in general is just wild though. One group will disband in 2 minutes because the host had a meltdown and starts hurling insults when someone ask if they can do a red-border run. Next group is dead quiet with the only exchanges being "What calls we using?" And "That was on me, my bad" with us breezing through the raid.

      • Since the powers that be won't let me start a new topic, maybe I can ask here. Is a solar Titan with the flaming helmet desirable to an LFG fireteam? I want the machine gun from Deep Stone Crypt. I did solo the legend Seraph mission, pre-Lightfall. Ad clear in few two man dungeons. Never done a raid. I'm average at best. Suggestions for YT videos to learn the mechanics?

It’s just a roll of the dice. I’ve had nearly flawless runs when joining kwtd raids but also had experiences like you had. I’ve also joined multiple teaching runs and they usually went pretty smooth but a few when terrible because some players are just lost causes.

              • Logically, those who need people to KWTD are themselves not able to guide other players, which means they are not as knowledgeable of players as the one’s who can teach the raid. That won’t always be the case but I’ve also found this to be true.

              • Teaching typically has several good players, knowing that someone is learning and then a couple learning that can either go decent or tank you. I def choose those over the KWTD smart -blam!- posts.

              • Some players want to get raid encounters done in one shot and I don't blame them for their philosophy sometimes.

                • Usually the KWTD LFG posters are the ones that can't do more than ad clear.

                • The thing with teaching people is that it's a guarantee of getting everyone on the same page, and inexperienced players will play with more caution. Not so much so with Crota, but it's very normal for LFG teams to have players familiar with different strategies but assume that everyone else only knows their way. That aside, I'd never slander someone just for checking Raid Report. I do it all the time and am open about it; it's a very useful tool to gauge how experienced the team is, which can affect how you distribute roles and what expectations to have for the likes of proficiency and damage.

                  • see id rather just solo the raid (or maybe just one encounter) so if i fail im never letting anyone else down also i never talk so iv always been kicked for not having a mic.. im mostly socially mute irl and it seems that extents to in game too this new matchmaking in game LFG needs to be checkpoint based.. what i mean by that is if your near or in a checkpoint area before your encounter starts you are able to matchmake while still in the activity so if people leave or are dropped they can either come back quickly or someone else takes their place, your checkpoint is saved for you so you are able to search with that also in checkpoint areas you should be able to vote on people and give them commendations

                  • I've been on both sides of the LFG KWTD fence. Back in D1 I was really into the game D1 Raid report list me at top 2% in clears and speed with a Diamond IV rank. In D2 I might have 30 overall raid completions, just haven't enjoyed the game as much. KWTD runs are usually quick only exceptions being if the team cant agree on the strategy for the encounter or if someone joins who doesnt KWTD. Teaching runs are better for you but to claim KWTD players are worse because you got kicked at the first encounter sounds more like sour grapes.

                    • I'm still not trusting LFGs becuz my bad experience back in D1 from waay before House of Wolves came out at the time. Back then I was used to carry low levels to get certain loots in VoG Raid. Got kicked out from Atheon checkpoint and they got Atheon's Epilogue & Vex Mythoclast. To me, I would've gotten one of those (Atheon mostly cuz of me doing the Thorn quest on the void kills part on my Hunter main). Was stuck using a bad shotgun at that time. XD

                        • The worst is when you get like two or three friends and they have some weird strat that nobody does and they’re insistent on doing it because it’s all they know and can’t understand why no one knows what they’re talking about because they didn’t bother to explain things beforehand. You can tell pretty much right away how a LFG is going to go Lanterns in CE is a really good gauge of things. There’s zero reason to speed run it and it’s best to move slow or as fast as the slowest member. Make sure to get darkness stacks down. Call out enlighten. If they’re rushing ahead, eager edging people, just lighting the lantern and not calling out or not waiting for stacks you know it’s gonna be a bad time. Impatient and uncoordinated

Like I joined a “chill master Nez” cp then the next thing ya know this British fella is like, I know the post said chill but if you -blam!- up I’ll call it out, along those lines. So I’m like herrrre we go. It was tough but we stuck through and got it done. My moral is the story: LFG is RNG Some people click faster than others. Ask me how my all Hunter Crota run went 😂😵
