They're slowly getting rid of power level.
Literally the reason you gave for it being too demanding is what they're aiming to address, while ALSO making the game more difficult.
By season 21, we probably won't need to grind light.

I mean .. very slowly … as in I don’t see it going away in this update at all.

It's not going away in this update. They have outright told us it's not AND when it's happening lol. Season 21. Again, this has been communicated ot us by the Game Director. Now they did say that while it's going away in season 21, that doesn't mean they won't ever raise the power cap again, but they are going to at east try a season without it and hopefully the feedback is good so we can continue that.
