A society simply wouldn’t survive if the majority of the population is lgbtq, which is what Bungie is portraying with its unbalanced relationships.

Devrim, Ana, Saint and Osiris. That’s it. And yeah, light bearers are undead. They can’t reproduce. So, that kind of falls over very flat.

Editado por The Tickler: 12/1/2022 12:23:55 AMJust so we’re fair, that’s actually an undercount. The confirmed LGBT characters in Destiny include: Ana, Saint, Osiris, Devrim, Eramis, Nimbus, Oryx, Mara, Sjur Eido, the Drifter, Micah-10, Eriana-3, and Wei Ning. The only confirmed or quasi-confirmed straight characters are Zavala and Cayde. I’m not advocating for one relationship over the other. In fact, I’m advocating for neither one. This is a game about space magic and shooting aliens. Side character love stories feel entirely out of place and unnecessary to the overarching story of the game. I think the only time in the franchise that a side character’s romantic relationship has been a focal point to the story in any capacity was Season of the Haunted with Zavala. Every season before that, those relationships were either kept to lore books, VERY vaguely hinted at so the player could make their own interpretation, or left out entirely. I just wish we could go back to those days, because lately it’s starting to feel like world building and quality storytelling are taking a back seat pushing unnecessary storylines that don’t move the plot in any meaningful way. Again, this is NOT an advocation for or against LGBT characters. This is an advocation against ALL romantic relationships in this game. Put those stories in books, comics, lore, even web animations and tv shows where these side characters can become main characters and be more fleshed out in a way that doesn’t feel intrusive to the actual story being told.

??? They’re sterile god killers. It doesn’t really matter who they bang.

Editado por parallelish: 12/1/2022 7:35:58 PM1. overpopulation is a thing 2. lgbtq people make up like 10% of the pop in the US 3. just because there are a good amount of lgbtq relationships in the game doesn't mean the society as a whole in the game reflects that.

Overpopulation is a theory, not a guaranteed thing. There’s actually more scientists pointing the finger at under population currently, as our populations are collapsing with an influx of old people and shortage of babies. Cities are over crowded, sure. But cities make up like 5% of the planet.
-
we just passed 8 Billion people a little while ago. populations are still rising, just not as fast as in the past. space isn't the issue, finite resources and the climate crisis are more pressing concerns.
-
No actually. We have more than we could ever need of most things, some rare metals used to make computers are running low, and we can’t use oil forever. But we have no scarcity of the things that build societies. Overpopulation is only a theory, and it’s not even the popular one anymore. The birth rate is falling extremely fast.
-
I guess you don't remember when Kamala Harris said the quiet part out loud when she said, we've fought wars over oil but eventually wars will be fought over water. most of the US is in a drought right now btw. those metals and oils you myopically brushed off are huge, major parts of global economies and are essential (unfortunately) to building societies. ad populum much? and like i said, the population is still going up, just not at the rate it has in the past
-
I don’t need to debate this with you, there are scientists on both sides of this one. Yes we need those metals, we also dumped the majority of the rare metals we already mined in landfill. If we were ever truly desperate enough for those metals, we can begin to reuse what we’ve already mined, or hell make our own synthetic compounds as we have many times. On oil though, the world is collectively moving away from it. So, we can overcome that too 🤷 If there’s too many old people receiving pensions, and not enough babies being born to pay taxes and fund that aged care plan, societies all across the world will collapse.
-
yet here we are. many metals can't be synthesized. do we live on the same planet? The US isn't moving away from oil and India still gets 70% of its energy from coal. sure we are making some efforts but it is way too little way too late. that emoji is perfect because yeah i'm sure someone will invent the magic machine to solve all of our problems... eventually, maybe
