Principles are dumb, they don’t keep the light on or fill your belly. As far as slapping me in the face I don’t think so, I’ve accepted that’s how businesses and capitalism works. Things start cheap but when they become more popular or there’s more demand for it the price goes up
I’m honestly glad you wrote all that out. A person who disregards principles is exactly how businesses exploit customers with impunity and how capitalism gets misused. A business with bad practices, per capitalism, gets replaced by a business with better practices. Be it prices, service, etc that sets them apart. If there is a demand, it gets met. When consumers just take it, the better business doesn’t rise, leaving only the bad ones. This derails the normal function of capitalism, enabling crony capitalism where the bad businesses grow and exert influence to maintain. So no. The business being crappy is ultimately the end result of the consumer base not doing its job. We saw this principle in action with base D2, the backlash caused a change in practice for the better of the consumer. Economic systems are a two way street. Just like government systems, which are relevant due to their control of the economic systems, in this case captialism. The consumers/public’s disregard for their responsibilities and complacency to being treated like an atm is what brings us to today’s crapfest. As for popularity causes rising prices, not for digital goods. Supply and demand causes prices for physical goods to rise and fall, as they obviously have to be made, shipped and shelved. Digital goods don’t really have supply and demand issues. Demand/popularity can affect price (which is normal, within reason. Reason being situational to the product of course) but typically they stay flat once set. That’s why I can’t recall a single other game company doing this.

 • No one is exploiting anyone here. Knock it off. No one is putting a gun to your head and forcing you to buy anything. No one is defrauding you by telling you that you’ll get something and then not getting it. In fact, all this up roar is coming from BUNGIE BEING TRANSPARENT with a planned pricing change MONTHS before it takes effect. The Bottomline here is that most of you are simply the worst kind of hypocrites. Raging about how others are greedy in charging for the fair market value of their WORK, while you are blind to your own greed. In wanting the fruits of that labor WITHOUT PAYING FOR IT. If you don’t think what Bungie is charging is a good deal (it is and laughably so)? The walk away. Don’t buy it and don’t support the game in any way. That’s the principled response, but we both know that this isn’t the game being played. Those who are complaining WANT the content and feel it’s valuable (hence the bitter complaints). They just don’t want to fairly compensate Bungie for it.

 • That’s waaaaaaaay to much for me to read. No offense but I’m not invested enough in the conversation to waste 10 minutes of my time
