Seasonal challenges are great, I don’t mind that some of them count past activity and some are not. That model works really well on weapons and lost sectors. Since IB rolls only around 4(ish) times a season, wouldn’t it be a better experience if the Iron Banner seasonal challenges counted progress retroactively in the future? I also think it would be a better experience if the valor/infamy ranks count past progress too, or at least are included in the 1 week of challenges, making all progress count. As a player it feels bad to have to grind out those activities again after sinking a lot of time in them. I could be wrong and they do already count past progress though.
