Hammer charges too much work for not enough reward?

Anyone else feel like the game play loop of this season, doing battlegrounds to get hammer charges to focus umbrals into seasonal loot, is way too unrewarding? You get no more than one hammer charge per battleground, which takes like 10 minutes, and it costs 3 hammer charges to focus ONE tier 2 engram which is still a 50/50 of the weapon you want? So you can spend 30 minutes doing battlegrounds just to get the weapon you dont want? Initially i thought for sure this would be fixed by upgrading the chart at the war table, but it's all for stuff like more cabal gold and holding more hammer charges at a time but nothing about actually getting more hammer charges which are the driving commodity required for getting loot. This just doesn't make sense and leaves me with no reason to even look at the tier 2 or 3 focusing options. Say I want to get a far future. I can spend 3 hammer charges on a far and lethal engram that has a 50/50 chance of being a far future, so if I spend 6 hammer charges on two I theoretically will get at least one. But if I instead just focus 6 chosen arms engrams, each of which has a 1/6 chance of being a far future, I still have a theoretical probability of getting one, except when I focus chosen arms I can get any of the other weapons instead of just the bow. In season of arrivals you could focus each umbral you got for basically free. Now you need a rare activity based currency that is so poorly balanced that its value is completely disproportionate to how time consuming it is to get. This season is really good but the umbral focusing table is totally out of touch and definitely needs work. EDIT: since people want to argue about my lack of understanding of the theory of probability, here is an actual calculation and why I didnt do it at first. (1/2)^2 = 25% chance of not getting the gun you want from two tier 2s. (5/6)^6 = 33% chance of not getting the gun from six tier 1s. A marginal difference for the same price. We don't know exactly how bungie's RNG works but if you actually want to sit down and properly calculate the probability based on the numbers we have, the system is still broken. Yes, I oversimplified it and made the gambler's error because I was lazy but it doesn't really matter, the difference is 8%
