Most people want to play games for fun, that's the point of video games,. Some games can even have theraputical effects. But when you make it so the game is forcing you to have 1-2 hours of pure misery, hate, anxiety, whatever, that's when you know, it's time you reconsider, what is "fun" and what is "misery" part in your game. But consider that every person in the moment of "misery, hate, anxiety" part of your game, goes off to vent on Facebook, Youtube, Forums, whatever, gets upvoted, is at least 5-10 potential players, gone forever. Now those 50 000 small fry that haven't returned since last season, most of them probably advised their networks of people, not to play the game when asked. think about it, for every player you severly piss off, you lost 10 more at minimum. It's really hard to convince someone to give you their time and money for something that 15% of the time, tastes and smells like sh*t. You think about it, making a game that is challenging, worthwile, and just get rid of that misery part, your ego is in the way.
